Joanna Krupa's new ad for PETA has the Catholic League really pissed off because, as you can see, it features Joanna as a naked angel in a church, holding a strategically placed cross. I guess a crucifix was too racy for the animal rights organization? And the Catholic League is striking back. "The fact is that cats and dogs are a lot safer in pet stores than they are in the hands of PETA employees. Moreover, pet stores don’t rip off Christian iconography and engage in cheap irreligious claims. PETA is a fraud," said the president of the organization. [PopWatch]
But Joanna hasn't stayed quiet on the subject either: "I’m doing what the Catholic Church should be doing, working to stop senseless suffering of animals, the most defenseless of God’s creation."
Either way you slice it, the ad is doing its job—shocking people into talking about PETA. But not necessarily animal cruelty, which is really the point here, no? PETA really has the shock formula down pat. Check out another religiously offensive ad of Joanna and more questionable PETA ads from over the years.Related to: joanna krupa peta
