Winona’s Dad Says: Whatever the catastrophe hopefully you would have time to consider the habiliments needed for potential weather as well as appropriate clothing. A good rule to remember is dress for the worst and hope for the best. If you have the money, spend it on layering really good synthetics. Modest moolah? Go for wool and wool blends. Avoid cotton for much of anything except near tropical climates; even then I might go without. The idea is to always protect your core temperature from too hot or too cold. I would consider a one-person tent because it’s light, quick to deploy, and generally waterproof. Remember, if you camp in the woods, wind makes widows and trees keep raining a long time after the rain clouds leave.
Winona Says: Keep an eye out for an upcoming article about how to look chic in layered synthetics!
