Hits & Misses: The Best And Worst Of Beauty At The 2012 Met Ball
Très, Très Tan
These women are gorgeous, but the unnatural tanning leaves them all looking a shade off. Liv Tyler's (top left) glow is more believable than the others, but it's still a departure from her trademark porcelain skin. I know a tan is supposed to make you look "healthier," but I so prefer Liv as her pale self. Claire Danes (top right) is almost beyond recognition and it makes me sad that she did this to herself. I assume she probably thought that her white dress called for a deeper tan, but I think just a soft radiance like Liv's would have been sufficient. Ginnifer Goodwin (bottom left) wasn't quite as harsh — her face looks pretty, but you could see on her chest and on her legs that she was orange as anything. Kate Upton's (bottom right) coloring is more suited to a tanner look, but she's naturally fair and the telltale lighter circles around her eyes aren't flattering. Also not flattering: her garish makeup.
