Saturday I went to my first fall 2010 fashion show, checking out the latest collection from Twinkle, whose clothes I always love for being fun and whimsical, but totally wearable. First, however, I went backstage to get the hair scoop from Redken's John Ruidant (who is a complete dreamboat -- and straight!). Twinkle's designer, Wenlan Chia, was going for a "Hansel & Gretel" vibe, i.e., slightly creepy fairytale, so she wanted the hair to have lots of texture, with a certain "undoneness" to it, like the model had been running away from an evil witch through the woods. Ruidant accomplished that with a style that could easily be pulled off by the average Jane at home. First he finger combed in two products -- Redken's Fabricate 03 Heat-Active Texturizer and Thickening Lotion 06 Body Builder -- and blew it dry. Then he separated the hair into two sections, tying back the top section in a half-up-half-down fashion. Gathering all the hair at the nape, he twisted and coiled the hair to the side, securing the coil on the lower right nape of the neck. If you're looking for a new way to pull back your hair, this was a real winner.
Keep clicking for info on Twinkle's nail look -- hint: it involves PRESS-ONS! -- and to see some of my favorite outfits from the show.
