Menswear Designer of the Year

Crib Sheets: A Beginner's Guide to CFDA Award Winners

Billy Reid previously won the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund grant in 2010, so he’s no stranger to the council (or to the fashion world). In fact, he received the CFDA Best New Menswear Designer Award in 2001, but the state of the economy forced him to shutter his line shortly thereafter. His luxe bespoke creations are — for lack of a better word — sharp and slightly workmanly, with rugged detailing and gorgeous outerwear (even I covet one of his fur-lined jackets). The designs are equally suited for hyper-stylish Brooklyn boys as they are for men of distinction Reid’s native Louisiana.
