For a while The Beatles were part of Hare Krishna, a cult that is about as hippie as you can get. Members wore yellow robes and panhandled, barely slept, hardly ever ate and chanted a whole lot. They believed they'd be rewarded for their sufferings and it's rumored that some even engaged in murder and robbery. Too bad the leaders of this sect lived large in luxury houses and surrounded themselves by beautiful women. [Top Tenz]
