Hugh Laurie became a big deal in America when he started playing the curmudgeonly genius, American, pill-popping doctor Gregory House in "House." The actor is actually English but his accent is so convincing that "Flight of the Phoenix" executive producer said he was "an example of just the kind of compelling American actor he has been looking for. The character of Dr. House is also seemingly incapable of maintaining healthy relationships, while Laurie is a family man with a wife and three kids. They're both heartthrobs in my book. [USA Today]
