Johnny has portrayed the writer and bon vivant Hunter S. Thompson in a number of films, and was good personal friends with the late Thompson until his suicide in 2005. At his funeral, Johnny helped to fulfill Thompson's last wish: for his remains to be shot into the ocean out of a 150-foot-long cannon.
