Anne Whitney and Abby Adeline Manning
Anne Whitney was a poet, sculptor and teacher from Boston whose work included the sculpture of Samuel Adams that stands in National Statuary Hall Collection in the U.S. Capitol. She met Abby Adeline Manning, also an artist, in the late 1860s when she was studying with the artist William Rimmer. The women lived and worked together for the next 40 years, splitting their time between a studio in Boston and a farm in New Hampshire. They were both heavily involved with the women's suffrage movement, printing pamphlets and sharing their home with friends and fellow artists. [Wikipedia, Find A Grave]
