The Williams sisters can always be counted on for daring fashion choices, but Serena Williams upped the ante at the 2004 U.S. Open by stepping onto the court in what appeared to be quality replicas of Darth Vader's favorite footwear. Turns out they were Nike "sneaker boots" -- regular tennis shoes with a knee-high sleeve attached. Nike designer Wilson Smith claimed they provide extra support for calf muscles, but who cares about function when they look so badass?
