Something about the quiet clink of fat ice cubes hitting the walls of a tumbler full of brown liquor feels very Southern to me. This is perhaps due to my childhood fascination with the Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood. Fancy my surprise when I learned that the mysterious "branch" in the ever-present glasses of bourbon and branch was just mineral water. A classic, solid drink for all seasons, but with a hint of dark, suburban despair, I'm getting Kate Winslet in "Revolutionary Road" vibes.
Bourbon & Branch
- 2 ounces Bourbon
- 4 ounces bottled water
