12 Relationship Tests (And How To Pass Them With Flying Colors)
Moving In Together
The Test: You've decided to give up your respective swingin' single apartments, combine IKEA furniture, and sign a shared lease.
How To Pass It: As exciting as it is to take the leap into a shared living space, accept the fact that there will be plenty of little bumps on the path to blissful cohabitation. Give yourselves plenty of time to transition to your new living arrangements, try to forgive quickly and discuss any issues before they blow up into major problems (the way he doesn't rinse the sink after spitting out his toothpaste can turn into the fight of the century if you let your annoyance blossom into full-on rage).
The word "compromise" must be your new mantra, but remember that it's also OK to have a few things that you're not willing to give up (your Spice Girls concert poster and your "no talking before 8AM" policy, for example). Just make sure to give your partner a pass for a few of their non-negotiables, too. You'll both be happier for it.
