In the beginning of the movie, we are introduced to a 13-year-old Evan Rachel Wood in pigtails and pastels. Remember that really awkward phase between being a tween with hyper-working sweat glands to a teen in trendy clothes who talks loudly about blow jobs in homeroom? No? Okay, well that’s the teen ERW is playing here. And she kinda nails it.
First comes the cool, more tight-fitting clothes, then the thong underwear, then the piercings and finally the drugs and sex. I feel like I know these girls. The easiest cultural proverb to pull from this film is that maybe there was a good reason our moms didn't want us to wear eyeliner in middle school.
