Penelope Cruz Could Have Starred In “Melancholia”
Kirsten Dunst is very thankful for her new role in Lars von Trier’s “Melancholia,” the story of a depressed bride who sees a sad planet in the sky on the night of her wedding. It netted her the Best Actress honor at the Cannes Film Festival and has some people whispering about an Oscar nomination. But apparently, the role wasn’t originally intended for her—director Lars Von Trier actually created the role for Penelope Cruz. “Thank you, Penelope, for not doing this,” says Kirsten. [ONTD]
