A Nose

A nose is the slang for a highly trained perfumer. Only about 50 well-respected professional noses exist in the world, that’s how painstaking the training is. Once you become a nose, you can work with perfume companies or on your own to create and evaluate perfumes and other scents. I am planning on doing this as my vanity career seeing as how I have an impeccable sniffer and I’m a crazy scent-o-phile. I’d better move to France though because the best noses train in Grasse, France, a region which has been renowned for its perfume production for centuries, and it can take seven or more years to complete nose training.

Seven years? Geez. And on top of that, many noses pursue advanced degrees in chemistry or psychology, since psychology is a very important aspect of the perfume industry. Seriously, I don’t care how hard it is. I’m doing it. [Wise Geek]
