Gaga grew up on the Upper West Side, her father ran a company which installed Wi-Fi in hotels and her mother was a V.P. at Verizon for a while. She and her sister went to Sacred Heart, a catholic private school, and Gaga worked as a waitress at a diner on the Upper West Side, using one of her first paychecks to buy a Gucci purse. Early on, she realized that if she auditioned for plays and musicals, she could meet boys at the catholic boys’ school. Some of her classmates recall that during performances, she would only respond to her character’s name. I guess not that much has changed? [NYMag.com]
