11 Ways To Show You Love Your Body

In “I’m Fat, So?!” last week, I totally dissed The Sun’s ridiculously stupid “Big Girl’s Guide To Sex.” It was full of backwards tips about how to look thin, as if skinny always equals attractive. But seriously, YAY for all the supportive comments from you lovely Frisky readers about the post. And since, I smack talked the talk, now I’m going to walk the walk — or, rather, do the do! Here are my very sexy tips on how to show your man that you like your body no matter your size, so he can return the favor.

We See Chick Flicks: Bride Wars

Starring Anne Hathaway, Kate Hudson

Against my better judgment, and the groans of many, many people I respect and whom I want to respect me, I saw “Bride Wars” on Sunday afternoon. [With me! What? I'm not ashamed. -- Editor] Everyone who has seen the trailer and or merely read the title knows exactly what this movie is about. Trust that it goes no deeper than that.

Breaking News: We Have A Name For The Garner-Affleck Baby!

Seraphina Rose Elizabeth, according to People.com. Seraphina is the “feminine form of the Late Latin name Seraphinus, derived from the biblical word seraphim which was Hebrew in origin and meant ‘fiery ones.’” Might the little girl have red hair? The name may not be in line with what we predicted — colored, floral, or elderly in nature — but her two middle names are. Rose is, duh, a flower and a color, while Elizabeth is about as traditional a name as you can get. Anyway, congrats on getting a name baby! [People] Keep reading »

Try To Get Used To A World Without “Mad Men”

Despite knowing that “Mad Men” is an awesome show, I am a little behind on watching it. In fact, I just finished the first season last weekend. But I might not need to worry about getting through the second season in time to watch the third season on AMC this summer, because there might not be a third season! As we’ve said before, the show’s creator and executive producer, Matthew Weiner, hasn’t reached an agreement with Lionsgate about his contract. After the Golden Globes on Sunday night, Weiner told E! News: “And I don’t even know what to tell you. I don’t know what to say … I’ve done everything I can. That’s all I can tell you.” He also said the show’s fate is “unknowable.” How foreboding. So, even though I cannot wait for the first disc of season two to arrive from Netflix, it’s probably best that I’m so far behind on the show. At least I still have the entire second season to look forward to — all the cool kids who have already seen season two have nothing on the horizon. And with that, please take a moment to pray for the future of “Mad Men.” [NY Mag] Keep reading »

Frisky Q&A: Six-Word Memoirs On Love And Heartbreak

A couple years ago, the storytelling magazine SMITH issued a challenge to its readers: “Can you tell your life story in six words?” Inspired by the legend that Ernest Hemingway once won a bet that he could complete a story in just six words (His story: “For Sale: baby shoes, never worn.”), the magazine’s call for mini-memoirs was answered with thousands of submissions and resulted in the New York Times bestseller Not Quite What I Was Planning. Because so many people’s submissions dealt with love and heartbreak, SMITH followed up with the newly published book, Six-Word Memoirs on Love and Heartbreak. We talked to SMITH co-founder Larry Smith about what will get your story included in the next book and how his own love story goes.

Gossip Girl: You’re Related! Plus Five Other Reasons To Breakup

Dan and Serena, decided to get back together on last week’s episode of “Gossip Girl.” But Lonely Boy and S were in for a surprise when they found out that they are…RELATED. Sort of. Their parents had a secret love-child many, many years ago and the twosome share a half-brother. EEK! Sure, their love runs deeper than Chuck Bass’ pockets, but this is an obvious reason to break up with someone, right? Because as Serena said, “it’s a little too hillbilly.” (And you know they don’t stand for that on Park Ave.) Instead, these two decided to stay together, for now, and make the best out of a redneck situation.

This does bring up an interesting point. No matter how deep in love you may be, isn’t there a point in some relationships where it’s time to breakup? Couples stay together out of convenience and comfort, but deep down you may know it’s just not working between the two of you. And if being related in some sick twisted scenario isn’t a reason enough to throw in the towel, here are five reasons to breakup, after the jump. Keep reading »

Thoughts From Guys On Our IM: Can Men & Women Be Friends Without Drama?

After we watched Kate Winslet gush about her 15 year love for Leonardo DiCaprio at Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards — in front of her husband, Sam Mendes, not to mention millions of viewers — we kind of got to wondering if men and women can really maintain tight friendships, if one or both of them is in a relationship. Personally, I’ve never been the jealous type and have never cared if my S.O. had close girlfriends — but then again, if I was ever given cause for worry (like they had hooked up before, or she was especially flirty) maybe my green-eyed monster would come out. And ever since the guys on my IM basically confirmed that men want to screw all their female friends on some level, I’ve wondered whether platonic friendships between men and women are even really possible, especially if there are boyfriends or girlfriends involved. So I went back to the fountains of boy wisdom to find out… Keep reading »

Signs Your Lover Is Having An Emotional Affair

The emotional affair is when your lover is looking for someone with whom he can experience an intense emotional experience. His primary reason for the affair isn’t sex. Since emotional affairs are more subtle, you’ll have to spend more time gathering evidence because this type of affair is simply easier to deny. Here’s what you should look for, according to Ronald T. Potter-Efron, Ph.D., M.S.W. and co-author of The Emotional Affair after the jump. Keep reading »
