  • As it turns out, the Model Lounge at Delicatessen in Soho is jealousy-inducing, but not actually full of hot lady models getting it on. Sorry boys. [New York Post]
  • Kate Moss–known for her hot bod, love of snorting, and general unwillingness to grant interviews–has opened up to the press about photographer Rankin. So yeah, it’s nothing personal, but it’s edifying to know that she speaks in addition to just looking hot all the time. [Modelinia]

Trailer Park: “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” And “(500) Days of Summer”

There’s really no sense in trying to goad you into going to the movie theater this week, because you already know what’s there. In fact, you’ve been waiting in anticipation for months, crossing the days off calendars. It’s epic. Not only is “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” out now (approximately eight months late), but “500 Days of Summer,” which seemingly took 500 days to arrive in theaters, is out, too. If you’re not already waiting in line, you’re too late. Get ‘er done. Keep reading »

Don’t Hate Them Cause They’re Beautiful!

“She’s too sexy for her job, too sexy for her job, so sexy…” Yes, I changed the lyrics, but the message still fits. Recently-fired UK prison officer Amitjo Kajila wants payback. The 22-year-old is demanding reparations from Justice Secretary Jack Straw after he allegedly fired her for…being too pretty. Officers said the size 4 Kajila received frequent inmate attention due to her make-up and revealing clothes, posing a security risk to herself and the prison. (Really they’re just jealous!) Kajila claims the other officers bullied her for her appearance and called her a “stupid little girl.” (Hey, It’s not her fault she’s hawt!) I guess besides being locked up, ugly prison guards are another drawback to the clink. [Daily Mail]

Amitjo isn’t the only woman suffering from Pretty People Prejudice (hell, there’s a whole documentary about them!). After the jump, other people who claim their flawless complexion got them the boot. Keep reading »

Urine Luck! Scientists Envision Pee-Powered Cars

Pee: it’s not just for toilets anymore! Scientists at Ohio University say urine from humans and animals can be used to make hydrogen, which creates the hydrogen gas used in fuels when an electric current is sent through it. The power of pee could hypothetically be used to get 90 miles to the gallon on a car and the pee from one cow could create enough energy to heat water for 19 homes, the scientists say. No word yet on how expensive or smelly it might be. But, hey, whatever works to be green, man. [NY Daily News] Keep reading »

Starbucks May Start Selling Booze, Too

Because Starbucks doesn’t already take enough of my money, the coffee chain announced it may start selling beer and wine in addition to coffee. Starbucks is currently serving alcohol during the evenings at one of its coffee shops in Seattle and if that pilot program is successful, the company could open others. However, their stores which sell alcohol will “look very different from a typical Starbucks,” USA Today reports, probably because there’ll be obnoxious drunk people in them.

The beers and wines, which will likely be local to the Pacific Northwest, will cost $4 to $7 a pop. Hmm, wonder if Starbucks will still make your order your booze in those stupid tall, grande or venti sizes? [USA Today] Keep reading »

Happy 30th Birthday To The Happy Meal!

Thirty years ago, McDonald’s made one of the best marketing moves ever when it launched the Happy Meal. The kids staple with a toy inside has remained a consumer staple for three full decades. Over the years, the Happy Meal hasn’t just lured in children, but adults looking to collect toys. I for sure remember rolling up to Mickey D’s to pick up one of 100 million teenie beanie babies that were given out in 1997––the most popular toy to date. Keep reading »
