Consider These Decorative Trimmings For Your Thanksgiving Day Spread

For the most part, we’re all about hiding the cords that keep our panoply of gadgets energized. But then we came across this photo showing a lamp with a fancifully manipulated cable, and it made us realize that sometimes, like when you have a ginormous zit on your forehead, it’s better to embrace the problem than to attempt to cover it up (everyone can see what you’re trying to hide anyway, right?). Lifehacker recommends using wall clips like these ($21.34 for 100) to create your design. Plus, spending an hour or so creating a modern art installation out of cords you already have is probably cheaper than buying a piece of artwork. [Maisie Maud Broadhead via Lifehacker]
We spend tons of time (and money) washing, toning, and moisturizing our faces to keep them smooth and free of blemishes and fine lines, but most of us just slap on any ole body moisturizer. When we’re old and gray, our faces will be oh-so-smooth, and our limbs will be covered in wrinkles. But not if we slather on Hissyfit Body Double Moisturizer With Anti-Aging Ingredients and SPF 30. The mix of anti-inflammatories and anti-oxidants means our skin will be protected and improved in just one step. Plus, the lotion, which is scented with vanilla, almond, orange, and grapefruit essential oils, smells light and isn’t sticky or greasy. [$45, Dermstore]
We’re giving away five bottles of Hissyfit Body Double Moisturizer With SPF 30+, but you have to work if you want your skin to look good. The five best commenters for this coming week—from today, Friday, Nov. 20 through Thursday, Nov. 26—will be awarded with one. So, be as clever, smart, and original as you can! Last week at an event introducing Tory Burch’s eyewear line, Annika and I had a chance to talk to the designer herself. While it was interesting to hear about the clothes and accessories from the woman who created them (and pick out a pair of glasses to take home), we were most excited to learn that part of the reason Tory wanted to start a company was so she could eventually have a foundation to help other women. Now, she’s made that dream a reality with the recently launched Tory Burch Foundation.
“New Moon,” the second movie in the Twilight Saga, hits theaters this Friday, and it seems the owner of what is used as the Cullen’s home in the film has decided to cash in on the franchise’s popularity by putting his home on the market this week. The five-bedroom West Vancouver house features an outdoor pool, hot tub, and a koi pond on a 1/2-acre of land, along with 20-foot ceilings and a chef’s kitchen. Twihards are probably salivating at the mouth, dying to live in—or see!—the place Edward and his fam call home, but it won’t be cheap or easy. Viewings of the house are by appointment only, and the asking price is $3,298,000. The Cullens certainly did well for themselves. [Jason Soprovich via Luxist]
Waffle fries are the holy grail of French fries for me, and it’s not always easy to find them when I have a craving (or they’re so weighed down with grease they’re soggy—ugh). Luckily, I came across Alexia Foods’ Crunchy Snacks Waffle Fries at the grocery today. They don’t need fried or cooked, and their texture is a cross between a fry and a chip; mostly crispy, but soft on the inside. The hot pepper flavor is spicy and delicious, and everyone in The Frisky office wanted to steal them from me. While the fries aren’t exactly health food, they are all natural with no artificial preservatives, flavoring, or coloring. So, now I have access to my beloved waffle fries wherever I want, which will be awesome provided I don’t overdo it—I still have three more flavors to try.
Fashion designer David Meister is known for his amazing dresses—the Hollywood elite like Diane Lane, Sharon Stone, Viola Davis, Jennifer Hudson, and Tina Fey can’t stop wearing his gowns on the red carpet— and last night, at an event hosted by All the Looks, David spoke about what it’s like to make clothes for women of all shapes and sizes.
In a Mail Online article, writer Denise Robertson questions whether having a pill women could swallow to put them in the mood for sex would be a good thing, or whether it would actually be harmful to relationships:
"Libido-boosting drugs like Viagra wrongly used divorces sex from love -- they have the potential to reduce love-making to nothing more than a cold, physical act. After all, if you can pop a pill, you can dispense with the need for the affection, friendship and comfort that make up a truly fulfilling love-life. If you want the best sex, foreplay is a 12-hour commitment -- you need to spend all day every day cherishing the object of your desire so that they feel important -- and feel desire in return.'She also argues that women who can't get turned on often have psychological issues they should deal with, and masking the symptoms of their problems doesn't treat the cause. Do you think a "female Viagra" would help relationships, or would it turn lovemaking into nothing more than a physical activity?
