Hate to say it, but some romantic gestures are gross and cheesy and not at all what we want when a guy is trying to make a statement. That said, there are some really, really sweet, kind, funny things a man can do to melt our cold hearts. Here are the ten things we’d seriously rather you not do to woo us, plus ten gestures that really will turn us to mush.

1. Having your date get down on his knees at a movie theater and serenade you to New Edition’s “Mr. Telephone Man”.
2. Having your date order for you (um maybe I wanted the chicken?)
3. Rolling in money “Indecent Proposal” style.  Money is one of the dirtiest and most germ-infested things on the planet.

More attention is paid when a famous couple calls it quits than when they tie the knot.  How come?  Because they’re more interesting duh!  While breakups are sad, there’s something about famous people that makes the 50 times more dramatic.  Perhaps it’s the various media outlets they trash talk to, the rumors surrounding them, or just the fact that everyone knows about it.  Here are our top ten splits in ’08.

We may be “Gossip Girl” fanatics, but there is a duo on TV that put Blair and Serena to shame, and that would be Dr. Sean McNamara and Dr. Christian Troy.  Before their return in January, you need to get hooked on “Nip/Tuck.”  Despite the gore factor (which, trust, you get used to) this is the sexiest show on television. Not just a show about plastic surgery, “Nip/Tuck” is much, much more; drama, sex, murder, sex, scandal, sex, mystery, sex, you get the picture. Plus they have hilarious and wonderful guest stars—catch up on all the episodes online or through Netflix.

In Rolling Stone‘s cover story on Britney Spears (on newsstands today), the singer describes some recent dates she’s been on, all “supervised” by her assistant. While none of the dates have been successful, it goes without saying that post-Federline and post-breakdown, Papa Spears is keep a very close eye on who his daughter hangs out with. While some say Britney still holds a candle for Adnan Ghalib, we think she should drop that trash and, when she’s ready, find herself a man who’s not going to use her. Who knows what her mom and dad will approve of—they don’t seem to want too many people to get close to Britney and her millions—but we have some suggestions that could totally work.

Let me start by saying that I’m probably not the most biased reviewer, considering I’ve been dying to see this movie since it was cast. In terms of pure movie enjoyment and giggles, Reese Witherspoon is my favorite actress and Vince Vaughn is my favorite actor. Could I have been more excited to find out that they were in a rom-com together? Um, no. As I’d hoped, Reese was perfectly adorable as always and Vince Vaughn, playing himself, per usual, had me almost peeing myself from the beginning. Needless to say, this is the perfect post-Turkey Day movie. Light, fluffy, funny, and, oh hell, heartwarming. Full review after the jump…

Despite my sometimes strong aversion to “The Hills,” my DVR was totally set for last night’s showdown. Poor Audrina, hasn’t she had enough trouble with “bad boy” Justin Bobby? Now she hears that her best friend hooked up with him? But would Lauren ever touch someone she hates that much? Hmmm.  This was going to be a dramafest.

I wouldn’t consider myself to be a Grade A snob, despite what some may think.  I may carry an expensive bag or be sporting expensive shoes, but chances are that I’m wearing Forever 21 everywhere else.  I prefer a diner sandwich to a fancy meal, have cut myself off from mani/pedis and learned to polish my own, and am getting a little less bitter about the subway. In these tough economic times, we’re all trying to cut back, but there are some things we’re just not willing to give up.
