“You can’t drive a painting … I drive these cars — they don’t just sit here.”
– Ralph Lauren shows off his collection of vintage cars to Vanity Fair. Lauren’s two-floor garage houses Ferraris from the 1950s, ’60s, ’70s, and ’90s, Porsches, Aston Martins, Morgans, Jaguars, “a 1938 Bugatti coupe, a 1938 Alfa Romeo Mille Miglia roadster, and the world’s only 1930 Mercedes-Benz SSK “Count Trossi” roadster.” [Racked] Keep reading »
The other day, The Frisky’s resident hip-hop head responded to an email saying she was glad she wouldn’t have to “pour out some bubbly” to a feature that might have gone the way of the dinosaurs. This was obviously a reference to the ’90s hip-hop classic “Gangsta Lean,” except this writer prefers champagne to 40 ounces of malt liquor. But absolutely no one seemed to get the joke. That’s why Understand Rap: Explanations of Confusing Rap Lyrics You and Your Grandma Can Understand should be a must-read for anyone who is interested in pop culture or who simply wants to understand what the hell Jay-Z is rapping about. Writer William Buckholz uses his dry wit to explain the most popular rap lyrics, so you’re never confused again.
This cute little coin purse tells a heavy truth in grand floral style. Sure, the economy sucks, but look at those cheery daisies, think happy thoughts, and then dig out a couple quarters to buy yourself a Twix bar.
Congratulations, you made it through another holiday season. But you’re so broke you’ll be stuck at home eating ramen noodles until April! John Legend recently opened up his Bowery home to New York magazine. He says he wanted a unique space with plenty of light, not a cookie-cutter box. While John’s 1,350 sq. ft. apartment does have floor-to-ceiling windows, giving his home plenty of light, it also looks a little too styled for my taste. Everything, including John and his model girlfriend Chrissy Telgen, seems to be placed just so. That’s not to say I would mind living in this apartment — it also contains a music room, an entertaining room, walk-in closets, and beautiful views of downtown Manhattan. And to think, a decade ago, John shared an East Village walk-up apartment with two college friends. Check out more photos of John’s apartment after the jump. [Fashion Indie] Keep reading »

We thought “pretty umbrella” was an urban legend like “comfortable stiletto” or “fun time at the DMV.” But this clear plastic, heart-splattered umbrella is just the accessory to keep you dry and adorable through the wet winter months. Take it from us: Brightly colored umbrellas perk up a drizzly day faster than a first kiss. (And doesn’t it just make you want to plant one on your sweetie in the pouring rain?) You’ll never leave behind an umbrella this cute on the bus again!
Some would argue that the slogan “Nothing feels as good as skinny feels” promotes anorexia. But ask a Weight Watchers member, and she might say this mantra, which I’ve heard repeated in meetings, kept her on track to healthy weight loss. I can see both sides of the debate, especially since decorator Jonathan Adler, who created this pillow for Kirna Zabête, is known for his cheeky designs. So does this pillow offend you? Whether you prefer relaxing beach vacations or three-month treks through the jungle, it’s always fun to write down travel highlights and maybe draw some doodles of that hot cabana boy. This dreamy sky-themed journal would be the perfect place to record your next adventure.
One of our favorite things to do during the holidays is to take things that are already awesome — like chocolate brownies, kitty cats, and cocktails, for example — and make them even more awesome, usually by adding some marshmallows or mint chips and maybe a cute Christmas sweater to the former two. For the latter, Baileys usually does the trick, but then we found these peppermint cocktail stirrers and, oh my God, suddenly our lives — and our drinks — just got a bit more festive. Cheers, and happy holidays, everyone!
