An Open Letter To Kate Middleton’s Hair

Dear Kate Middleton’s Hair,

I know it’s kind of awkward to write you a letter, because, well, you’re hair and I’m not even sure that you know how to read, but I really need to talk to you. I would have called, but I don’t know the number for your direct line.

Every time I see you, KMH, you look good. Not just good, but breathtakingly good. You are thick and lustrous and shiny and styled into artfully cascading curls. If there was a contest for Best Hair In The World, you would win it every day. Maybe the hair of Blake Lively or Beyonce or Zac Efron would challenge you every once in a while and the World Hair Judges would pretend to deliberate. But ultimately every other head of hair in the world is the Justin Guarini to your Kelly Clarkson–there’s just no contest. So here’s my question: how do you look that good all of the time? It’s also a fact that we routinely subject our hair to damaging heat-styling when our hair is at its weakest.

So, when a blowout is an essential step in your primping routine, what’s the solution? Read more… Keep reading »

Why Is Kelly Bensimon Pouring Vodka In Her Hair? (And Does It Work?)

Speaking of strange beauty advice from celebrities, Kelly Bensimon is probably not a reliable source for anything other than acting a fool on reality TV. But girlfriend does have great hair, so her “DIY Hair Cocktail” recipe is worth a listen. Kelly posted a YouTube video of herself on massaging olive oil, salt, lemon and vodka into her locks — supposedly on the advice of her hairdresser pal, who promised it’d give Kelly’s ‘do a “beachy” look. Sounds more like a “drunky” look to me. Any idea if vodka/lemon/salt/olive oil works — or does it just make you smell like a sorority girl on her 21st birthday? Kelly stops the video before we see the results! [YouTube] Keep reading »

Kate Middleton’s Wedding Hair Was Practiced … With A $10 Tiara

Now that the Royal Wedding of the Millennium is over, experts are analyzing every little piece of information about the big event. Like the news that Kate Middleton‘s hair dressers practiced her big day ‘do with a $10 tiara purchased at a friggin’ Claire’s Accessories. Oh hellz no, the plastic crown didn’t touch Kate’s locks–it was tested on the head of an assistant, in a dark back room, with the windows taped over, to ensure that absolutely no one would see the hair work in action before the big day. Apparently it all paid off — Middleton’s hairdresser, James Pryce, won big props for keeping Kate’s long and loose. But the look was slightly more complex than it appeared. The real tiara — loaned to Kate by the Queen — was actually stitched into a braid in Kate’s hair. Ingenious! [Telegraph UK] Keep reading »
