Greasy roots are pretty much the bane of my existence, and the main reason I wash my hair so often. Whether you want to extend time between shampoos, are prone to oily hair, or woke up late and didn’t have time to shower this morning, here are a few cheap and easy solutions for greasy roots …
This weekend, I received a single-sentence introductory message from a guy on OKCupid. “Have you ever considered cutting your hair short?” he asked, not signing his name or telling me anything about himself or really anything else that made me inclined to respond. Is he negging me? I thought. Is he saying I look bad with longer hair? I was being paranoid, of course, but the truth is, going super short terrifies me because I’m afraid I would look, well, terrible.
Then I came home and saw this photo of Anne Hathaway, who just chopped off all her hair, like, super short, for her role is “Les Miserables,” in which she plays a struggling factory worker who is forced into prostitution and winds up selling her hair to make ends meet. (She also is supposedly on a horrific-sounding 500-calorie-per-day diet, in order to lose 15 lbs. for the role.) First of all, I totally commend Anne Hathaway for her dedication to her craft. But doesn’t she look so … uncomfortable in this photo? Like she’s not happy with her new look. Dammit, Anne — I’m pretending Anne is reading this — you look awesome! You have balls I don’t have! Wear that super short pixie cut with pride! And if you need inspiration, may I direct you to the long list of gorgeous and talented actresses who have also gone super-short in the last few years? Keep clicking to see these fab ladies who’ve lopped off their locks — and then hold your head high!
I cannot lie: there must be a bit of Hot Topic teen buried somewhere within me, because I have an undeniable attraction to unnaturally-hued hair, specifically colors more commonly found in a 64-pack of Crayolas — you know, the nice one with the sharpener. But like any hair color (or trend, for that matter) some people carry it well, while others … not so much. Luckily, celebrities have taken to testing the waters on this adventurous creative-cool look, giving us some pretty good examples of what and what not to do. Check out the good versus the bad (in my opinion — your thoughts may vary!) in the gallery above.
You always want what you don’t have — and girls with pin-straight hair are often super envious of ladies with lots of curls. It stands to reason, too, that curly-haired girls aren’t always as appreciative of their ringlets and waves as they could be. But ladies, come on, curly hair is ah-maz-ing. You guys are so lucky. And if you’re still on the fence about it, we’ve got 15 real girls with real curls and waves to show you just how cool curls can be.
The White House knows that the public looooooves it when Barack Obama talks about his children — and we should, those kids are adorable — so it doesn’t surprise me his campaign released a video of POTUS recounting this one time he tried to do Malia’s hair when she was four. And he really sucked at it. Eh, the president can’t be good at everything. [Buzzfeed]
No, I don’t mean facial hair. It wasn’t a typo. I mean Face Hair. These four dudes put their heads together to … make a face. I wonder if they plan to walk around in this position until their hair grows back. Maybe then they’ll do something dirtier like boobs, belly button and vagina. [Buzzfeed]
