A Personal Account of What It’s Exactly Like to Have an Abortion
Contraceptives and condoms aren't 100%
Having heard lots of horror stories, the only thing that would ease this girl’s worried mind and convince her to go through with her decision was to log on to the world wide web and get advice from users who had abortions. The internet didn’t ease her worries too much though. Still fearing the process a great deal, she moved forward with the termination, visiting a local Planned Parenthood in search of the abortion pill.
Pick your poison
Once she had the pill in her possession, she decided to keep a journal, detailing all the gory and not-so-gory details. She began, “On Friday at 11:30 I took the first pill at Planned Parenthood. Then on Saturday at 12:30, I took the nausea meds. I waited 30 minutes, then I took 800mg ibuprofen and 1 tylenol 3, then immediately inserted the 4 pills into my cheeks. I waited 30 minutes then swallowed the bits that remained..”
She continued, “At 1:00 p.m. The cramps began just mildly at first. From about 1:30-2, the cramps were consistently getting worse. I had some chills, a bit of nausea (though I was nauseated from the pregnancy, so I’m not sure if it was related to pregnancy or the pills). By 2:30p. I was experiencing the worst of it and the cramps were coming almost non-stop and getting intense. I tried using a heating pad but had to keep changing positions to try and get some relief. To add to my discomfort my lower back was hurting a good bit. I got some chills during this time, and overall just felt REALLY weird/uncomfortable. I started lightly bleeding around 2, but no clots. This scared me a bit, because everything I’d read said when you start passing clots is when the pain amps itself up….so I was nervous about how bad the pain would get, as it was already pretty bad. I took a second tylenol 3 around this time, which really helped alot.”
