Whether a friend has been there for decades or just a few years, sometimes you need to cut ties with them for your own emotional health. Maybe they have changed their political views, maybe they are constantly flaky and unreliable, or maybe you’ve just grown up while they haven’t… Whatever the reason, outgrowing friends is a natural thing. It’s sad, but it happens.
When the realization comes that a friendship is going south, there’s only so much you can do to preserve it. Like a romantic relationships, friendships are 50/50. If there’s a growing imbalance, it’s best to cut ties sooner rather than later.
