Mental Health: Easy Self-Care Tips We All Need

Small steps towards a better you

The meaning of “self-care” varies from person to person. For some people who are severely debilitated by their mental illnesses, it can be difficult for them to do simple self-care things like brushing their teeth everyday or putting on clean clothes. On the opposite end of the spectrum, many embrace self-care by going to hot yoga every day and drinking goji berry and flaxseed smoothies after running five miles.

The fact of the matter is, we all need self-care. Whether they are baby-steps to help to start to lift you out of your deep depression or because work and other stressors will eventually burn you out mentally or physically, we all need some time to ourselves every now and then.

I’m NOT going going to tell you to drink X amount of water a day or buy essential oils and meditate. I’m offering up various simple, cheap (or free), and easy self-care tips that you can take or leave. Just know that it’s super important to put yourself first sometimes, and often that means a quick time-out from your routine.
