Man Fakes His Death to Prove His Own WIFE Hired a Hitman to Kill Him
She would stop at nothing to leave him
Knocking Him Off
Ramon and Lulu opened a successful gym together and things were good for the first few years. Then, financial strife hit them in 2015. Ramon tried hard to find a solution but Lulu wanted out — and not just of the business. She told her husband that she wanted a divorce. While things were strained between them, Lulu remained in the house with her estranged husband because she couldn’t afford to live on her own.
Their marriage became a “lie.” Ramon explained that Lulu would tell friends and family that he was abusive and a thief. She took pictures of his while he was asleep placing liquor bottles next to him to make him look like he had a drinking problem.
Searching for a way out of her marriage and financial predicament, Lulu approached a man named Gustavo and offered him $2,000 to kill her husband. Ramon explained to The Daily Mail that his wife “approached a guy called Gustavo, to see if he could organize the hit.” Unfortunately for Lulu (but fortunately for Ramon), he and Gustavo were friends. “I knew him, because I’d coached him [at the gym],” Ramon explained.
Gustavo called Ramon to tell him that he was propositioned for the hit. Ramon continued, “At first, when he called and said he needed to see me, because someone ‘wanted to kill me,’ I thought he was joking. Gustavo told me she was clearly serious and had held her fingers to her head, in a gun-firing gesture.”
The two men made a plan so that she would be caught and arrested for the dastardly plan. Ramon taped a microphone to Gustavo, and the unwitting hitman met with Lulu again to discuss payment. The recording was taken to the Montgomery County Police Station.
Ramon claimed that the police were “shocked” about the recording, but they didn’t want to go out and arrest her right away. They asked Ramon to pose as though he was dead so that they could take photos to show Lulu in hopes that she would incriminate herself in the murder-for-hire plot. Gustavo went back to Lulu and told her that he would find her a hitman, and he put her in touch with undercover police officers who orchestrated a masterful sting operation to get her.
The police got the FBI and Texas Rangers involved in the scheme. The agencies took Ramon out into the desert and dug a shallow grave for him to pose in. He was given movie makeup to look like he was dead from a gunshot wound to the head and photographed. Ramon said about the death recreation to KHOU, “Lying in the dirt, pretending to be dead, was terrifying. When I first met Lulu, I certainly didn’t expect our relationship to end like that.”
Ramon was then instructed to stay in a hotel for three days and not contact anyone while they caught Lulu in the act of soliciting his murder.
The “hitman” approached Lulu to tell her that her husband had been killed and showed her the photos of his body. She reportedly laughed at the photos, then offered up jewelry and cash for the kill. The woman was quickly cuffed and hauled off to jail.
Lulu pled guilty to her crime, and she was sentenced to 20 years for second-degree felony solicitation of murder. She will have the possibility of parole after five years, but waived her rights to an appeal. Ramon is in a new relationship, but feels as though he’ll never be the same after this traumatic event.
