Dentist Accused of Murdering His Mistress’s Baby Accused of Planning Her Murder From JAIL
Don't think of this next time you're at the dentist...
The Man, The Woman, The Baby
Burt Franklin, 36, of Oklahoma has been held in the Oklahoma County Jail since July 2016. He was denied bail as he is considered a flight risk after losing his dental practice since he was accused of killing his girlfriend’s baby. He denies the charges. But the story gets way worse.
Roxanne Lewis-Randall was with Franklin for about a year before her son Lincoln died. And it wasn’t until afterwards that she found out that Franklin was married the whole time.
Footage from a July 17, 2016 video found inside Lewis-Randall’s home shows Franklin slamming Lincoln’s head into the ground, making a kicking motion, then carrying the child away. He did all this while getting himself a piece of pizza.
Lewis-Randall went on Dr. Phil to share her story with the world. She said:
“Lincoln was laying on the couch, looking up at the TV, so I went to walk around to give him his pacifier and Burt was on the other couch. He was like ‘No, he’s asleep,’ so I put his pacifier on the arm of the couch and went back upstairs.
I guess that’s whenever he picked up Lincoln and carried his body around. So he carried him into the kitchen, gets another piece of pizza, and eventually takes him to my room and lays him on my bed.”
Lewis-Randall said she woke at around 2 a.m. to feed Lincoln, but his little body was completely limp. He was already brain dead. She rushed Lincoln to the hospital.
Lincoln’s autopsy reveled severe swelling and trauma to his brain, as well as hemorrhaging in both eyes caused by a pair of skull fractures.
Lewis-Randall told Dr. Phil: “My mind knew logically that there was only one explanation. I asked him, said ‘Are you sure Lincoln didn’t fall or something whenever you guys were outside or whenever you guys were downstairs?’ And his exact answer was ‘No, and I told you that noise was me throwing a ball at the wall.’ And that stuck in my mind.”
But Franklin’s violent ways didn’t stop there. He kept up the act behind bars.
The court was told that one of Franklin’s biological children had accused him of abuse in the past. Also presented were threatening texts Franklin had sent to Lincoln’s biological father.
Franklin is now facing another felony charge: Conspiring to have Lewis-Randall killed so she couldn’t testify against him in court. Since Lincoln’s mother was the only key witness in his case, he allegedly began soliciting other inmates to have her murdered.
Prosecutors claimed that Franklin gave “step-by-step driving instructions” to Lewis-Randall’s house to a fellow inmate, as well as information on her home security cameras. Prosecutors say that Franklin even transferred $300 to another inmate’s account as “compensation for the murder.”
Little did Franklin know that the three inmates he had talked to were already working with law enforcement as confidential informants for unrelated cases.
In light of the new charges, Franklin is now scheduled for a pre-trial conference on January 17.
