Just the Beggining
The Police Department in Stanfield, North Carolina had been investigating 49-year-old resident Tony Ray Aldridge for 10 months before they finally got enough to act. After almost a year of watching and listening, they had gathered enough evidence to obtain a felony arrest warrant for the man. The charge? Incest.
In North Carolina, the legal definition of incest is “carnal intercourse” with a person that is grandparent, grandchild, parent, child or stepchild or adopted child, brother or sister, uncle, aunt, nephew, or niece. In short, penetrative sex with a blood relative.
The investigation started from reports from the Department of Social Services. It turned out a child had been born from an incestuous relationship Tony — who had a previous sex offense on the books from a 1989 incident — had with a non-specified member of his family.
During the course of the investigatoin, the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office realized that Tony was also in violation of the terms of the sex offender registry. The Sheriff’s Office obtained its own warrants on charges related to registry violations. So on Nov. 14, police conducted a raid on Tony’s house to serve the arrest warrants along with a search warrant.
He’s no Heisenberg
They quickly realized that incest wasn’t the only thing Tony was up to. It shouldn’t be surprising that someone with no morals wouldn’t be up to other nefarious things.
During the raid, police found a meth lab behind Tony’s house. It should be noted that use of meth is on the rise again, with Americans making their own makeshift labs to produce the drug.
Two more residents of the home were arrested for making meth and charged with Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver Methamphetamine or Methamphetamine Precursor and with Maintaining a Dwelling for the Storage or Sale of a Controlled Substance.
As for Tony, aside from the incest and sex registry violations, he was also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, offenses related to operating a meth lab, and possession of stolen property.
The mother and child are safe in DDS custody.
Incest in America
The majority of reported incest cases are those of children being molested by older family members, thus resulting in a lifetime of trauma. There are pro-incest message boards all over the internet, some calling for “full marriage equality” so siblings can be wed.
One site states:
“‘[Peer incest] is unnatural.’ This myth is not supported either in human history or in other species. While it is very common for people who spent their childhoods in the same residence together, whether genetically related or not, to develop a suppression of sexual attraction to each other (this has been described as the Westermarck Effect), this does not happen to everyone, and siblings who aren’t raised together are often attracted to each other; studies reveal most people are attracted to people who look like them.
Reality: In many cases, nothing is more natural.”
