Survey Shows Americans Wish Their Private Lives Were Kinkier
Do you want to spice up your life?
EdenFantasys is a site that sells all sorts of sexual aids and other goodies, like toys, lingerie, and lube. In fairness, though they conducted the survey likely using their customers so the results might exclude people who don’t visit adult shops online. Even so, the results are interesting to read.
For example, their findings revealed that 40% of people consider themselves kinky. That number seems high to me, based purely on anecdotal evidence that I would say not many of my past sexual partners were “kinky.” Then again, everyone’s definition of “kinky” is different. For some, it could be hair pulling and for another person it could be blood play.
Another surprise: only 49% of respondents say they are into toys (vibrators, dildos, strap-ons, c-rings, anal beads, butt plugs, Fleshlights, etc.)… Half of Americans are missing out because the toy industry is constantly coming out with cutting edge materials and technology to get you off lickity-split.
Meanwhile, 34% of people said they want to experiment more with toys with their current partner. Yay! They are are called “toys” because they are fun! Enjoy them! If you are in a physical store — which I recommend so you can see and feel display toys — have a salesperson guide you as it can be overwhelming with three dozen vibrators pointing at you. Always choose quality over cost with vibes.
A spokesperson for EdenFantasys said: “Having an open mind sexually is a great way to keep happiness in a relationship. At EdenFantasys, we pride ourselves in helping others find the kink that’s right for them. We suggest starting with s*x toys as they are safe, versatile and very fun.”
Take the whip
Role-playing is popular bedroom pastime, with 29% of respondents saying they’re interested in it. Twenty-four percent reported that they want to give it a try with their current partner. Sexy role-playing isn’t something we read about that often, but good on people who can stay in character.
Fifty-one percent of those with a specific kink or fetish reported that they need a month or so to bring it up to a new partner. Fun fact: I got non-consensually slapped in the face on two different first dates while making out.
Bondage made 22% of people curious. And surprisingly only 16% of people want to try anal. Ya’ll are missing out on some amazing butt stuff out there!
Out of those questioned, 76% said they are open to trying new kinks. WHAT?! That means almost a quarter of respondents were like “Nah, I’m good.”
“We, Americans, are going through transformative times. Testing our norms and our sexuality once again to find out how to live our lives even fuller and happier than ever,” said the EdenFantasys spokesperson. “EdenFantasys is proud to be a part of this generational challenge that we call ‘The New Intimacy.’”
I like this phrase “New Intimacy.” Imagine what adult stores and sites will be like in 20 years? AI toys? Will it go Black Mirror or to a land of orgasms?
Here’s to a happy sexual life, full of fun and fulfillment! Now go treat yourself to a quality toy.
