An Examination Of The One Direction Boys’ Hairstyle Magic

Maybe you’ve heard of this British pop band One Direction? Perhaps you have a tweenage sister that’s begging you to take her to their concert? As far as we can tell, they’re just latest boy band iteration, this time masterminded by “X-Factor” and “American Idol” svengali Simon Cowell. As such, we’re not particularly interested in listening to their music, which my friend Julieanne refers to as “My Chemical Newsies.” But the hair? Oh geez, we could talk about that travesty all day.

Baby Elephant Has A Grand Ol’ Time At The Beach

Well, it’s official: I need a baby elephant, specifically one that likes frolicking in the ocean and face-planting in the sand. What’s he doing, anyway? Digging for sand crabs? What a coincidence — that’s my third favorite beach activity after tanning and swimming. We would be such good friends. [Buzzfeed]

Is it true that the real love story on “Mad Men” is actually between Roger Sterling and Don Draper? Perhaps it is, perhaps it is. I know I’d like that to be true, and so does Elisa Kreisinger, who created this awesomely subversive take on the show. “The goal was to tell a story about  two men who once preserved concepts of manhood and masculinity but then found relief and happiness in each other, becoming a threat to the very same patriarchal system on which their power and privilege was based,” writes Elisa on her blog. “Queer Men: Don Loves Roger is a story about Don subverting rather than selling traditional masculinity.” [Pop Culture Pirate]
