Maria Shriver May Have Leaked The Arnold Schwarzenegger Story Herself

Curiouser and curiouser! TMZ claims that Maria Shriver was the one who leaked the news that Arnold Schwarzenegger fathered a child with a housekeeper because she was angry at the Austrian love guv. Shriver allegedly learned her husband had a child with Mildred Baena in late-April or early-May and was so “hysterical” that she wanted to throw a press conference and publicly shame him. Her pals apparently talked her down from that idea and instead leaked the details to TMZ and The Los Angeles Times. Keep reading »

Russell Brand Banned From Entering Japan, Katy Perry Cries

“Planning escape from Japanese custody. It’s bloody hard to dig a tunnel with a chopstick … Stockholm syndrome kicking in. Just asked my guard out for (vegetarian) sushi. He giggled … Alcatraz! Shawshank Redemption! And now this! Ah, sweet blue bird of freedom!”

Christina Hendricks’ Breasts Are Real, People

“It’s so bizarre that people are constantly asking if my breasts are real or fake. They’re so obviously real that anyone who’s ever seen or touched a breast would know.”

Christina Hendricks is in the unenviable position of repeatedly answering questions about her boobs. But she’s also in the enviable position of having Christina Hendricks’ boobs, so that about evens out, right? [Daily Mail UK]

Marie Claire Devotes Six Paragraphs To Discussing Kate Hudson And Ginnifer Goodwin’s Weight

Of all the lady mags, I tend to find the stories in Marie Claire to be the most informative, well-written, and thought-provoking. Celebrity interviews, of course, are a bit of a crapshoot; for every Lady Gaga (who will give amazing, ridiculous quote after amazing, ridiculous quote) there’s a Katie Holmes (who repeats canned answers that were clearly rehearsed over and over with a publicist in advance). Then there are all the celebrities who give interviews somewhere in the middle, sometimes interesting, sometimes not so much, often due to the types of questions posed by the interviewer. (Ask a celeb a boring question, you’ll probably get a boring answer.) For that reason, i wasn’t expecting much when I sat down to read the Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin cover story in the June issue of Marie Claire.

But I certainly didn’t expect six paragraphs devoted to discussing the stars’ weight. Keep reading »

Chelsea Handler Looks Like A “Playmate,” Says NY Times

“Below the neck, Ms. Handler is arranged along old-fashioned lines. Writers have described her as a California surfer type, but the truth is closer to the fantasy. In person, without makeup, her body has the pre-silicone lushness of a ’60s Playmate.”

WTF? Regardless of your opinion on the comedienne Chelsea Handler (I love her, mostly), writer Cathy Hornyn’s third paragraph of her profile in Sunday’s New York Times is aggravating as all get out. Yeah, Handler is attractive. But what’s the point of describing her body? Is the author trying to imply it’s helped Handler in her success? (Whether it did or not is debatable.) Even if one does think Handler’s attractiveness is salient to the article, it really pisses me off that Hornyn referred to her subject as “Playmate”-like before even mentioning her successes as an author and TV show host. Would an attractive male comedian’s body be mentioned in the third paragraph of a NYT profile — or at all? [Personally, I thought the entire profile was snide. -- Editor] [NY Times] Keep reading »
