What’s the absolute worst thing you can do as a mother? Oh, I don’t know … TRY TO SELL YOUR BABY. Like 33-year-old Bridget Wismer of Delaware (pictured above), who was charged with felony child dealing when she allegedly tried to sell her newborn son to a gay couple for $15,000. And she did all of this for a crummy trip to Disney World.

Whatever crappy things your mother did to you, you can take comfort in the fact that she didn’t try to sell you so she could go to Disney World. At least, I hope she didn’t. This Mother’s Day be grateful that one of these ladies is not your mother. Click through to see the worst of the worst.

The Dumbest Things Hipster Parents Do

OK, hipster parents, I get that you’re all WAY TOO ABOVE IT ALL to actually acknowledge being a dorky bunch of Moms and Dads, but I’m about to let you in on a little secret: you’re all a bunch of dorky Moms and Dads now. That’s what Moms and Dads ARE. You aren’t a young upstart anymore, you’re THE MAN. That’s not to say you can’t embrace that role and have some fun with it, but the more you act like you’re NOT a parent, the more horrible and weird a parent you become. Here are eight of the dumbest things hipster parents do. Read more…

25 Mom Confessions To Top All Mom Confessions

There are confessions and then there are CONFESSIONS. You won’t believe some of the stuff that the members of CafeMom are willing to spill publically (as long as they don’t have to use their real names:). Mostly because they know other moms have either done some of them, or at least contemplated doing them very seriously. Hey, we are only human!

We’re not sure what’s more unbelievable — the confessions themselves or the way some readers reacted to them.

Here are 25 pretty shocking parenting choices moms confessed to making, and some reader reactions. Some you can imagine … but some may surprise you. Read more …

“I love the fact that there are women out there who don’t have a choice and they must go to work and they still have to raise the kids. Thank goodness that we value those people too. And sometimes life isn’t easy for any of us.”

– Ann Romney spoke to Republicans in Connecticut last night and addressed, in a somewhat roundabout way, the recent kerfluffle by Democratic consultant Hilary Rosen who made dismissive comments about how Ann Romney “never worked a day in her life.”  This is an odd wording, though: “I love the fact there are women out there who don’t have a choice.” But whatever, I just think her husband should have policies to back it up! [Think Progress]

Salecia Johnson photo

Six-year-old girl Salecia Johnson landed herself in the slammer recently after throwing a temper tantrum. Georgia police arrived at Creekside Elementary School where the kindergartener was accused of tearing items off the walls, throwing furniture and knocking down a bookshelf that “injured” the principal. When officials attempted to calm her, she “resisted,” so cops handcuffed and hauled her little booty downtown. (The police chief told the WMAZ local news that anyone transported to the station must be placed in cuffs while riding inside a cop car.) Salecia, pictured above, was charged with damage to property and simple assault and was suspended for the remainder of the school year. Keep reading »

Another day, another bombastically link-baity piece on the Internet to get everyone’s feathers ruffled!

Today’s linkbait comes courtesy of The New York Daily News op-ed page, in which writer S.E. Cupp hammers away at Democratic consultant Hilary Rosen for a foot-in-mouth comment she made on “Anderson Cooper 360″ last week, that stay-at-home  mother (SAHM) of five Ann Romney “never worked a day in her life.” Rosen later clarified that she meant Ann shouldn’t be her millionaire husband’s earpiece for issues on women and the economy; alas, her point was lost by inelegant phrasing.

The rudeness of Rosen’s comments were chastised by everyone from First Lady Michelle Obama, members of the president’s staff, and feminists such as myself. But that fact has been conveniently ignored by S.E. Cupp. Instead, she wants to pat Ann Romney on the back for “marrying up,” writing:

[W]hile liberal women may praise Ann for (at least) getting herself an education, where is the praise for Ann’s best decision of all — to marry well? Keep reading »

Right about now, I’m wishing I were a seahorse. Their mating/reproduction/parenting model sounds absolutely ideal and egalitarian. You lay the eggs, he carries the babies and you take care of him while he’s knocked up. I could be down for this setup. Can we make this happen for humans? [Buzzfeed]
