We knew that pole dancing had gone mainstream when soccer moms started talking about it, and we all remember when Miley Cyrus took a stab at it during the 2009 Teen Choice Awards. Since then, pole dancing continues to seduce women by the truckload. The latest celebrity to express her love for the pole? Emma Watson, who has supposedly taken up pole dancing on the set of “The Bling Ring” to learn how to dance like a stripper. Even though she never thought she’d like it, a source tells the UK’s Sun newspaper that Emma is “amazed with the results because it has toned her body so well [and] finds it quite liberating.” Our little Hermione is growing up! Read on to hear why more stars love the pole. [The Sun UK]
As someone who is some small percentage Gypsy (my mother swears we’re Russian from the Caucaucus mountains), I’m more than a little bit fascinated by Gypsy culture. I’ve watched the UK version of “My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding” and have been blown away by the elaborate wedding ceremonies Gypsy families participate in, passing off their often very young daughters into marriage. Gypsy communities seem to be tightly knit and in some ways highly traditional (despite the short skirts that many of the young women wear to their friend’s weddings, Gypsy girls are expected to remain very, very chaste until marriage.)
Gypsies aren’t just a European phenomenon, either. A new TLC series documents the similar Gypsy culture in the U.S. — a people who also fight against immense prejudice and stereotypes, who love fiercely and who really seem to love a big, froofry, extravagant wedding dress. Check out the American version of “My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding” on Sunday nights at 10 pm EST, and check out some of the girl’s wild dresses here.
We’ve been so happy to see the huge variety of swimsuits available today (remember when everyone had to choose between a string bikini or an old lady one piece?), and we’re especially excited about the resurgence of retro style swimsuits. Here are 10 fabulous options in every size, shape, and color, guaranteed to make you look like a 50s film star lounging poolside. Just add cat eye sunglasses, a wide brim hat, and a cabana boy to fetch you a Mai Tai!

TGIF guys! This week has been totally awesome, but still, we are craving the weekend. This weekend I’m throwing a huge roof party to celebrate the warm weather and my roommate finishing grad school (congrats Abby!). What are your weekend plans? Tell us in the comments!
Before any of you freak out, please know we have a deep and unabiding love for Mr. Johnny Depp. He’s amazing. He’s friggin’ adorable. And he will always be our number 1 (or 3) crush ever since he starred in the original “21 Jump Street.” But the man is clearly uncomfortable with being People’s Sexiest Man Alive because he mostly dresses like a country hobo just down to the city for a spoon jamboree. This has not in any way lessened our affections for him — nothing really could, not even the horrible “Rum Diaries.” — but take a gander at his sartorial history and tell me he’s not totally effing with us.
