Over the weekend, I went to an outdoor wedding, which was totally lovely except for the fact that Saturday happened to be the hottest day Oregon’s had in three years. The temperature allowed the guests to bond very quickly by comparing the size of our back sweat stains, but damn, it was an uncomfortable afternoon. I felt so grateful that I’d picked up a cute, breezy dress the week before (that green floral number on the left, in fact!), so I thought it might be helpful to round up some other dress options to get everyone through the rest of the sweltering summer wedding season in style and (relative) comfort. The first step to getting over a problem is admitting that you have one. Now that we’ve divulged our summer beauty routines, I figured it was time to give up the goods on the five-step program that keeps my naturally oily skin looking summertime fly, and by that I mean dry. If you’re having grease problems, I feel bad for you, son, but I can almost guarantee that mine are worse than yours, especially during the hottest months of the year when sweat exacerbates the issue. My face practically screams, “Drill me.”
With years of market research (sometimes referred to as “shopping at Sephora”), I’ve found that the best way to treat my reactive, combination-to-oily skin and keep it under control is by supplementing my sensitive skin wash-and-tone routine with sebum-fighting powerhouses that simultaneously work to clear up blemishes. Most of them will get you matte in a pinch, and others help with oil production and congestion in the long run. Use one or all of these five tried-and-true slick-solvers, blot throughout the day as necessary, and revel in your miraculously matte complexion. Now isn’t that a relief?
Sadly — well, for me at least, because I love it – today was the last day of gymnastics events at the 2012 Olympics in London. In addition to the men’s parallel bars final, the women competed in the finals for floor and beam; all three events will air tonight in the U.S. but if you just can’t wait until then, we have a whole mess of awesome photos from the women’s events. But be warned: we will reveal at least some of the winners on the final slide of the post!

Dude. Dude. I am really, really into Jake Gyllenhaal’s Paul Bunyon-inspired wooliness on the cover of Details’ September issue. Let’s go chop some wood, if you know what I mean… Anyway, the actor has a decidedly more manly look and vibe to him in both the magazine’s photos and interview, in which he talks a lot about his approach to acting. He’s got two films coming out — “End of Watch” and “An Enemy” — which required him to play vastly different characters, both physically and mentally. The former, a bulked up cop, and the second, a nerdy history professor (hence, the beard?). Sounds like the perfection combination, if you ask me. Check out some more photos above, and read the interview at the link! [Details]
I am kind of obsessed with Brad Pitt’s longtime stunt double — but I can’t figure out his name! Here they are looking concerned on the set of Ridley Scott’s “The Counselor,” and despite this photo being posted far and wide on the internet, no one bothers to name the dude who risks his life so that Brad doesn’t damage his pretty face. Can we please give this guy some recognition? Unmask Brad’s Double, please!
