Call it the “Knocked Up” syndrome — when an attractive actress is romantically paired onscreen with a guy she’d never give a second thought to — but Hollywood has made quite a habit of casting unrealistic and unbelievable romantic pairs. Even before Seth Rogen made a baby with Katherine Heigl, stars like Woody Allen and Chevy Chase were casting themselves opposite knockout leading ladies. (Chase famously admitted that he wanted Beverly D’Angelo cast as his wife in the “National Lampoon”‘s series because she was so pretty.) And guys aren’t the only ones guilty of this (cough, Queen Latifah, cough).
Check out our list of wildly mismatched onscreen couples we just can’t believe.
One of the people behind the scenes at The Frisky is our General Manager Mina Lux. Mina is insane in a really wonderful way, best illustrated by the fact that, no matter what the weather is outside — I’m talking rain, hail, blizzard, flood, ice storm, whatever – she is in sky-high, platform heels. So when she came to me and said she wanted to curate a slideshow of heels, I decided to let her go wild, provided she stayed below a certain price point. Here are 35 pairs that get her approval.
This year’s Super Bowl halftime show was pretty epic. And the most epic thing about it, besides the marching bands and oiled warriors and light-up bleachers and gymnastics? Click through to check out the results (spoiler alert: Hannibal Lecter looks awesome in it) …
I’ve never been one to adhere to “seasonal” nail colors — neon pink in the dead of winter? Bring it on. Despite my best efforts to the contrary, I still dress almost exclusively in black, an idiosyncrasy that I will defend until I’ve gone blue in the face, which would actually add a bit of much-needed color to my persona … but I digress. I’ve always kept color strictly on my nails, and done so with fervor, claiming the brightest of blues, moody purple-greys, and vivid reds as my “signature” colors. Normally, the past few months and the according drop in temperature would have me breaking out my most eye-searing shades and donning them with aplomb, but not so. Maybe it’s the unseasonably warm weather that’s gotten under my skin, or maybe I’ve simply become weird (become weird? Ha!), but I’ve forgone all of the colors I normally reach for in favor of… nude. Jonathan Saunders was chosen as this year’s BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund winner, and will receive £200,000 cash prize. He’ll also be able to take advantage of top tier mentoring opportunities — not that he’ll need it. Saunders’ designs are already worn by the likes of Madonna, Sarah Jessica Parker and Michelle Obama.
