Happy “Magic Mike” Day everyone! Hollywood’s most important movie since “Citizen Kane” is out on DVD and Blu-Ray today, which means thousands of women across the country will be blowing off their previously scheduled plans in order to spend some alone time with the boys at the Xquisite. And to think this movie might not have happened if Channing Tatum, the movie’s star and one of the producers, hadn’t spent his pre-fame days shaking his moneymaker on stage as an exotic dancer. “Magic Mike” was loosely based on Channing’s own experiences as an upstart on the stripping scene, which explains why he was oh so very good in all those sexy dance sequences (the Blu-Ray, BTW, has additional material that was too hot for theaters). Eventually, the ability to bump and grind scored Channing a role in “Step Up” and the rest has been history — but clearly his roots have continued to be an influence. And we’re all the better for it…

You’re probably sick to death of hearing about their husbands, but Ann Romney and Michelle Obama merit some attention, too. We’re not going to talk about their politics, but we are going to examine their wardrobes. In the past four years, Michelle’s risen to prominence as a fashion star, but Ann certainly is giving her a run for her money. After the jump, we size up the candidates’ wives sartorial chops.
Lindsay Lohan has had a hell of a week. First, her dad Michael Lohan tried to stage an intervention, and asked that Lindsay’s estate be placed under conservatorship. And just days later, Lohan got her panties in a bunch over the presidential debate. Linz, who has previously said she would vote for Romney, watched the debate on pins and needles. Check out her anxiety-filled and delusional tweets above!
Among life’s many distinctions, there is one that is a truly elite club that many of us will only dream of joining: the first porn start to do ___. Somebody has to be the first — think about i! Last we learned that “erotic actress” Sylvia Kristel, who appeared in the 1974 French film “Emmanuelle,” had died of cancer at age 60. She wasn’t just any “erotic actress,” though: Sylvia Kristel was heralded by none other than People magazine as “arguably the world’s first true porn star.” “Emmanuelle” is about the wife of a diplomat living in Bangkok and their many affairs and was one of the first films with sex in it to be shown in mainstream theaters.
So that got us thinking: which other pioneering porn stars deserve our accolades?
Even though I’m such a summer girl, I echo what L.M. Montogomery wrote in Anne Of Green Gables: ”I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” Let’s see what we’re wearing on this gorgeous fall day.
