Modern coats can be a little minimalist and boring. However, retro coats have a certain flare that can make staying warm a chic affair. But, you don’t have to go hunting in your local thrift shop (although we wouldn’t fault you if you do) because we have nine coats with a retro swing right here!
When it comes to fashion, Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour is probably the most powerful woman in the world. It’s not just that she commands the pages of one of the most-loved fashion mags, or that she conceived and developed Fashion’s Night Out, it’s that she oversees the Council of Fashion Designer of Americas Fund, which supports emerging young designers. To win Wintour’s discerning approval is akin to being granted the keys to the fashion kingdom, and what she says absolutely goes on the pages of Vogue and beyond. So, we thought we’d take a moment to examine Wintour’s personal sartorial musings. How does the Queen of All Clothing actually dress? What can we learn from her style rules?
As much as we hate to see summer go, we’re excited for this fall’s fashion possibilities. Suddenly, the tights, boots and jeans we’ve put away for the last six months have crept back into our closets and are preparing to make their return. But! There’s of course a few things we wouldn’t mind adding to our ensembles. After the jump, check out The Frisky staff’s list of most-coveted fall must-haves. And don’t forget to tell us in the comments: What are you most craving as the temperature drops?
Sure, the term “classic” doesn’t usually apply to “Hills” star Audrina Patridge. But this jeans and sweater ensemble has the “Dancing with the Stars’” star looking like a downright respectable lady. Audrina makes it interesting by adding some well-placed accessories that add pops of color and texture. Her no-fuss hair keeps the look relaxed, and the heels amp up the wow factor. We love the bell-bottom jeans, and Audrina’s fit her bottom perfectly. Get her denim look by finding a pair with a slight bit of stretch to them. We’re also coveting her woven leather belt and the killer shoes. These peep-toe booties by XOXO with hidden platform and mesh panels are sexy and cool and can be worn all winter long with socks or stockings — and you wont believe the price!

Amelia and I have been lusting after the J Brand skinny cargo pants all the celebs have been wearing. But those pants cost more than $200, and we can’t justify spending that much on a garment we can’t wear every single day or at least for really special occasions. To satisfy our cargo desires while sticking to a budget, I hunted through some of our favorite mainstream retailers for cargo pants that are affordable and give butts a nice shape. Check ‘em out after the jump. Keep reading »
Fashion just can’t live in the present, can it? You see this when bikinis hit the shelves in February, and when the stores start stocking chunky knits in 90-degree weather. And now runway fashion, which is always shown a season ahead, is more on your radar than ever thanks to Twitter and the blogosphere, which makes it available instantly (whereas before, you might actually see fall collections for the first time in fall magazine issues). Of course, we’re not complaining because we gobble up images of the shows minutes after they’re posted. We do have to say this, however: it is a bit frustrating to watch presentations of spring collections during fall fashion week. By now, we’ve nearly forgotten about the autumn/winter merchandise we saw on the runway months ago, and now have new obsessions. Problem is, short-short weather is months off. Regardless, we definitely find ourselves taking style inspiration from fashion week, even if it’s the wrong season. Do you do this, too? Keep reading »
