Five years ago, British mum Deborah Higley had a boob job, increasing her bust from a 32A to a D. Her teen daughters, flat-chested themselves, shared a bedroom and would chat before sleep at night about how they, too, wanted breast implants. This year Deborah arranged for her 19- and 21-year-old daughters, Harriet and Rose, to increase their cup sizes as well — and their father covered the bill for all of this. For reasons completely unknown to me, the Higley ladies and their new bosoms posed together for the U.K.’s Daily Mirror newspaper. Keep reading »
Given the recent increase in temperatures and summer’s obvious arrival, I’m searching for any way to tie up my long locks and get them off the nape of my neck, without resorting to plain and basic ponytails. And to add to my hair issues, this weekend I’m heading to humid Baltimore, Maryland for a friend’s (outdoor) wedding — I’ve been looking for a simple but pretty up-do that’s easy enough to replicate, but looks fancy and intricate without spending hours (and dollars) at the salon. Thanks to this how-to based on Emma Roberts’ chic bun, I now have a great wedding hairstyle which is simple and easy to emulate — not to mention ideal for fancy warm weather occasions or a day at the office. There’s minimal effort involved, very few steps, and even less products. Read on for the quick instructions! Keep reading »
Have you ever met a drop-dead, gorgeous, this-person’s-face-could-launch-a-thousand-ships woman? Then you may dig this article I read on The Gloss called “Do You Ever Hate Women Because They’re Beautiful?” Jennifer Wright sees a Victoria’s Secret model coming out of her apartment building (she either lives there or has a friend/partner there) and of course the doorman and men in the lobby are falling over themselves. “And my first thought,” Wright writes, “was ‘f**k you, bitch, I hate you.’”
OK, it’s not the most sensitive — or rational — of responses. (Wright acknowledges it’s “a stupid, pre-feminist cliche to hate someone because they’re prettier than you are.”) Jealousy makes us feel this way, of course. But I think those of us who have “I hate you” moments also make a lot of assumptions about beautiful women. Keep reading »
Cristiano Ronaldo has been poolside during the NYC heat wave, which means his black toenail polish had been on display. Cristiano, who enjoys shopping at Gucci and Armani, probably knows how to treat himself well — pedicure and all. But is polishing his toes, like Dean McDermott does, a little too much? The men at my nail salon love to get pedicures, but so far I’ve only seen one extremely eccentric male customer get his toenails polished in a color. How do you feel about men getting colored toe nail polish? Discuss! [TMZ] Keep reading »
Is it just us, or are mousse beauty products just a bit nasty? We were browsing Urban Outfitters’ new online beauty shop when we found DuWop’s Lipmousse, which is described as a “cross between a gloss and a lipstick” in which a “hydro-attracting powdered silicone absorbs water and swells, creating a mousse-like look and feel.” We just imagined sticking our lips in a bowl of shaving cream. Shudder. There are tons of other mousse products out there, a popular one being Maybelline’s foundation and eyeshadow. St. Tropez also makes a mousse bronzer.
Are you into mousse-like beauty products? Or should the texture be reserved for hair products and chocolate desserts?
