I Want Her Hair: Diane Kruger’s Side-Swept Ponytail

Diane Kruger has one hell of a hair stylist. Every single time she’s photographed on the red carpet, she’s rocking a new, genius look. Side braids, retro and sculpted waves, casual and side-pinned, a low chignon sprinkled with tiny braids throughout—nothing ever looks too shellacked or forced. In fact, she always looks like she just may have done it herself. (We know that isn’t true, though. Still!) Sure, the Jennifer Aniston‘s of the world will always have a nice-looking blowout, but there’s just something to be said for taking the chance and switching it up. So when I saw Diane’s hair from a red carpet event in Sydney today, I had to give her a shout out for two reasons. Who doesn’t remember “The Nanny”? Since it ended, the star of the show Fran Drescher has commendably branched out to working tirelessly on behalf of women’s health issues, and now she’s extending her efforts to a new organic skincare line called FranBrand. Drescher personally worked with a chemist in California as well as organic manufacturers in Oregon to develop the products, which are free of parabens and carcinogens (aka bad chemicals you don’t want on your skin). We’re not quite sure where Amazonian white clay has been all our lives (oh, right, in South America), but now that we’ve met, never shall we part. If you have oily skin or even a troublesome T-zone, you dread these hazy mid-summer months when the humidity peaks and causes a minor catastrophe in the form of greasy skin, clogged pores, and the subsequent breakouts all over your face. Vanity iPhone App Says You’re Ugly!

The Vanity iPhone app is the latest application to confuse us because it somehow judges “beauty.” All you have to do is import a face-forward, close-up photo into the app, and it will instruct you to mark certain areas of your face, like the outline of your nose and the bottom-center of your chin. Then, you press “calculate” to have either your ego crushed or inflated, as the Vanity iPhone App judges your beauty on a scale of one to 10. The app doesn’t account for hairstyle, flawless skin, or smile because it only measures proportions, and I suspect it also ignores the fact that different races have different facial feature proportions. Amelia decided to test it out and confirmed what we already suspected — that myself, Catherine, and Simcha are all more beautiful than Megan Fox. Amelia’s dog Lucca wasn’t far behind. One of the things I love to do is walk into a Sephora–the bright lights and subtle fragrances remind me of beauty heaven, if there ever were such a place. But I often find that I’m overwhelmed by all the makeup, skin care, and perfume choices. That’s why I’ve been shopping at MAC shops lately for makeup with bold colors that are visible on my skin. Now, however, I don’t have to decide between atmosphere and fun makeup because Illamasqua, which has been dubbed Britain’s version of MAC, has arrived in Sephora stores. Super-Long Nails—Are They Back?

Is Rihanna going to single-handedly bring back fake, acrylic, prom-style nails? Take a look at her fingers, specifically her freakishly-long nails. Not only do they have some major length, but check out the shape. Most people rock the square with rounded edges look. Not RiRi. Her nails are almost filed into a point. Very Elvira. And this isn’t the first super-long sighting. Back in March, she went long with green polish! I find it hard enough keeping my shorter-than-my-fingertips nails clean. Imagine the crap that accumulates on the underside of her claws. Grody. Try This: Chilled Body Spray

This makes so much sense. It’s a wonder we didn’t think of it before. An easy way to keep cool this summer (especially if you don’t have air conditioning … we feel your pain), is to store a body or face spray in the fridge. That way, you can get an icy spritz that also combats the body odor you’ve inevitably worked up from the heat. You can do it with perfume as well, but it’s generally more refreshing with a light, almost watery, fragrance.
