Just in case it’s not enough to listen to “Get Lucky” on repeat while you get down to business in the bedroom, it appears that you can now protect yourself from pregnancy and STDs with Daft Punk-themed condoms. These boxes of “Get Lucky” condoms were produced by Durex UK and apparently sent out as a gift to some prominent DJs. No word on whether they’ll ever be available to the public, but in any case, it’s a good reminder that whenever you’re up all night to get some, use protection! [Laughing Squid]
This past week, my youngest brother came to visit me. His real name is Cuyler, but everyone calls him Bob (for some reason, no one in my family goes by their real name). Bob is 18 now — a solid ten years younger than me — but we’ve always been pretty close, and it was awesome to see him after a couple months of living so far away from each other. Hanging out with my not-so-little brother for a week, I realized that even though I’m the one who’s prone to big sisterly lectures, Bob has probably taught me way more about life than I’ve taught him. Here are five of the best lessons I’ve learned from him over the years… Keep reading »
If I were in a strange celebrity-obsessed kindergarten class and the teacher was like, “Alright class, Kate Hudson’s dress: love it or leave it? Please raise your hand quietly to share your opinion,” I would have been the terrible child who just blurts out “I LOVE IT!!!!!” before anyone had a chance to raise their hands. And that says a lot about how much I love this outfit, because I was the #1 rule-following teacher’s pet in kindergarten and viewed all the blurt-out-the-answer kids with extreme disdain. So now you know my thoughts on this sparkly, billowy gown. What are yours?
Finally, we have a full-length photo of Avril’s black wedding dress! In our poll yesterday, a slight majority of Frisky readers expressed distaste for the black wedding dress trend. I’m totally into the color (or lack thereof) of Avril’s dress and hubby Chad Kroeger’s coordinating black tux, but I have some other concerns about this photo. Mainly, how is it possible for a 14th century French castle to look exactly like the “hidden forest” background of my 5th grade school picture? Suspicious… [People]
Colin Firth’s turn as Mr. Darcy in the 1995 TV adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice” cemented his status as the dreamiest of dreamy leading men. And now, to publicize a new British TV channel dedicated to classic dramas, Firth’s iconic lake swim scene has been recreated as a 12-foot fiberglass statue emerging from the water in London’s Hyde Park. It will be displayed at several different locations before being installed at Lyme Park, where it will remain until February. Is Giant Darcy perhaps a little bit creepy? Yes, but I’m still planning to buy a ticket to the UK just to swim out to it, caress its giant abs, and whisper, “I love, I love, I love you.” [The Independent]
A denim skirt is one of the most versatile pieces of clothing you’ll ever own. Wear it with flip-flops and a T-shirt to the grocery store, or dress it up with heels and a pretty blouse for a night out. Dark denim pencil skirts totally work at casual offices, while a light wash denim mini looks great with a bikini top at the beach. Wear any denim skirt year round by adding textured tights, boots, and a chunky sweater. I could go on, but you get the idea, right? Click through to check out 10 denim skirts in an array of styles and sizes — all for $75 or less!
If I subscribed to subjective reality and believed that every person I cross paths with in life is actually a figment of my imagination who appears to teach me some cosmic lesson, I would be very certain that the woman in this video exists to teach me to deal with extreme levels of jealousy in a healthy way. Because watching her get knocked over and cuddled by a herd of adorable baby goats while giggling and exclaiming, “They’re very soft!” is almost too much for me to handle. Sigh. And if watching this sequence of events wasn’t difficult enough, the video is titled “Soft Baby Goat Love Pile,” which is the exact phrase I have written in Sharpie marker on my vision board. I need to go meditate now. [YouTube]
Aaron Collins, a computer technician from Lexington, Kentucky, passed away last year at the tragically young age of 30. In his will, he specified a unique last wish he wanted his family to fulfill: “Leave an awesome tip … I mean $500 on a fucking pizza.” His brother Seth took up the challenge, starting a website to raise funds to carry out his brother’s request. And then something crazy happened: instead of $500, he raised $60,000.
Seth decided to use all that money to raise the stakes on his brother’s wish. Instead of leaving just one surprise $500 tip, Seth is embarking on a cross-country road trip with the goal of surprising servers in all 50 states. He has already given out 54 huge tips, and is documenting all the server reactions on a website called Aaron’s Last Wish. Check out the video of the first tip above. I think it’s safe to say that Aaron would be very proud. [YouTube via Daily Mail]
