I’m one of those totally undiscerning, overeager Francophiles who will gladly buy anything that even remotely reminds me of Paris, from a mug that says “Oui!” to a giant cocktail ring in the shape of a macaron (I know, I’m the worst). This t-shirt, with a black and white screen-printed design of the Eiffel Tower, fulfills my Paris obsession much more stylishly–and subtly–than my usual Paris-themed impulse purchases. But just to drive the point home, I want to wear it with cuffed jeans and ballet flats while I grab a croissant and an espresso. Oui, oui! [$18, ZenThreads]
Fresh off her breakup with Jason Segel (so sad!), Michelle Williams stepped out in London looking like her usual lovely self in a classic khaki trenchcoat, cropped black pants, and wayfarer sunglasses. What makes her outfit extra special? The addition of those adorable Charlotte Olympia cat face loafers. Her feline footwear runs about $600, but we tracked down a similar pair for less than a third of that price, plus affordable versions of everything else she’s wearing. If you were a billionaire, how would you spend your vast fortune? Installing clean water systems in developing communities? Shopping sprees at Prada? Building an exact replica of a ship that sunk and killed 1500 people? These photo of notoriously purse-lipped Anna Wintour laughing and smiling while walking around Milan are making me giddy with glee. It’s like in high school when you work so hard all year to make your stone-faced digital media teacher show any sign of emotion, and after 8 months of effort, you make a random MS Paint animation of your best friend’s leg falling off, and when you present it to the class he cracks a tiny little smile, and you’re like, “Yes! My work here is done,” and then you stop trying in class and end up getting a B-. Or was that just me? Anyway, Anna looks happy and stylish and generally awesome. My work here is done. Big news on the colorful gummy candy/fantasy autocannibalism front! A place called FabCafe in Japan is offering a new service that uses 3D body scanners to create a realistic, life-size replica of your body–made entirely of gummy candy. Amazingly enough, the entire process costs just $65, but there are only 9 spaces available in the gummy replica workshop (I sense an eBay bidding war is imminent). FabCafe is marketing the gummy replicas as a great gift idea for men to give to their romantic partners. I can’t decide if this story is disturbing or delicious, so I’m going to call it disturbelicious, and no, I’m not sorry. [Gizmodo]
