Want To Eat Your Last Meal On Earth At T.G.I. Friday’s?

So, let’s say the world actually is going to end on December 21st, as predicted by the Mayan calendar maker whose carving hand got tired and finally said, “Fuck this, I’m getting a drink.” How would you want to spend your last hours on Earth? A quiet night in with family and friends? Watching one final sunset over the ocean? Confessing a lifetime of sins to your priest? Putting the finishing touches on your apocalypse survival kit? How about horfing a platter of loaded potato skins and pounding “Mayan Margaritas” with a bunch of rowdy douchebags at T.G.I. Friday’s? Yep, this meaningful end-of-the-world experience can be yours, thanks to T.G.I. Friday’s “The Last Friday” apocalypse party, which includes a special “Mayan Menu,” thumping dance music, giveaways, and a photobooth. Last Friday parties are scheduled in Chicago, D.C., Los Angeles, Miami, Tampa, and Orlando, so if you want to join in the hedonist hoedown, book your tickets now. As for me, if I somehow find myself at a T.G.I. Friday’s apocalypse party, I will take it as proof the world actually did end, and hell is way worse than I ever imagined. [Zagat]

This whimsical ornament chandelier would be a great way to display those extra ornaments that are rolling around the bottom of your Christmas decorations box, but it would be even more fun to hit the thrift store and craft a chandelier out of the most ridiculous ornaments you can find. Can you imagine a sparkling bundle of Dollywood souvenir ornaments? Talk about a conversation piece. [Real Simple]

Starting in February of next year, when you bring in a bag of old clothes to H&M, the company will recycle them for you and you’ll be rewarded with a discount voucher to buy some new ones. Pretty cool, right? The clothing exchange discount is part of H&M’s new iCollect recycling program, which aims to reduce the massive amount of waste produced by the clothing industry. Not only is the plan good for the earth, it’s also a smart PR move: you might remember a couple years ago when H&M found itself in hot water after The New York Times revealed the company routinely destroyed unsold clothing–including winter coats and gloves–that would gladly be accepted by shelters and charities. "Look at this Instagram!"

As an unabashed fan of both Instagram and Nickelback, I must admit this parody video stung a little, but it also made me laugh nonstop for three minutes. Also, I was simultaneously delighted and horrified when Julie came up with the phrase “Nickelbacked for your pleasure,” but in this case, it’s really a perfect description. Is It Friday Yet? A Field Guide To Terrible Office Humor

Office Romance
The dos and don'ts of dating someone you work with. Read More »

Last week, I had my friend Katelyn over to spend the day co-working at my house. Usually I work from home alone, which I don’t mind, but I was thrilled to have a coworker for the day, and immediately regaled her with some of the worst workplace jokes I had collected from the years I spent working in traditional offices. “Damn, is it Friday yet?” I groaned as I walked to the kitchen to get more coffee. ”Why are you talking like that?” she asked with genuine concern, and suddenly I realized Katelyn had never had a desk job. She had no idea about novelty coffee mugs and perfectly timed staff meeting zingers. It was quite possible she had never come down with a nasty case of the Mondays.

I spent the rest of the day schooling her on the basics of office humor, and decided that it would probably be prudent to compile all the worst office joke genres in one place. Whether you’re new to the subject or have been honing your “Give me coffee and nobody gets hurt” material for years, read on for a comprehensive field guide to 9-5 humor…

Style Inspiration: Jane From “Happy Endings”

Do you guys watch “Happy Endings”? My boyfriend forced me to watch an episode a while back and now I’m officially hooked. Every character on the show is impeccably styled, but the group’s perfectionist control freak Jane Kerkovich-Williams always looks so freakin’ fabulous. Her aesthetic is very professional and preppy, with attention to accessories and details: her nail polish colors are always ah-mah-zing, and you’ll never see her without a belt defining her waistline. Want to snag this chic Jane outfit for yourself? Get all the shopping details after the jump! Keep reading »
