Abortion Clinic Workers Answer Tough Questions

his year marks the 40th anniversary of the legalization of abortion in the United States, thanks to Roe v. Wade. In honor of this landmark decision, two abortion clinic workerstook to Reddit with an IAmA (“I am a”) AMA (“ask me anything”), inviting people to ask them any questions they had about their experiences. The women describe their background as working at “two different Midwestern, independent (non-Planned Parenthood) feminist clinics, both in strongly antichoice states.” They gave some insightful answers about what it’s like working in a clinic and what abortion is like in modern America. The Pope Resigns With Mixed Legacy On Marriage, Condoms & More

The Vatican announced today that Pope Benedict XVI will resign, making him the first pope to do so in six centuries. The former Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger became pope in 2005, and he will step down at 8:00 p.m. Rome time on Feb. 28 due to advanced age. The pope is 85. Over the past eight years, he has led the Church’s staunch stance against gay marriage, but he has also showed some modernization on the issue of condoms, especially in Africa. As the leader of the Catholic Church, he has the power to influence the actions and attitudes of millions around the world. New Bridget Jones Novel Announced

Classic chick-lit fans mark your diaries for November — that’s when the now-official third installment of the Bridget Jones novels will be released. Author Helen Fielding introduced the world to the single 30-something back in 1996 with Bridget Jones’s Diary and followed up the hit book loosely based on Pride and Prejudice with a 1999 sequel, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, both of which were turned into hit films staring Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant, and Colin Firth. Now almost 15 years later, fans can catch up with Bridget. She is apparently up to new things, according to the author, who says, “My life has moved on and Bridget’s will move on, too.” Read more…
