Attention sappy movie buffs! Check out the newly released trailer for “The Vow.” The romantic drama centers on Paige (Rachel McAdams), who loses five years of her memory following a terrible car crash. In her amnesiac state, she has no recollection of her present marriage to Leo (Channing Tatum), and believes she’s still engaged to ex-fiance Jeremy (Scott Speedman) from years before. And so the classic formula begins: boy loses girls heart via traumatic means … boy must win her heart all over again! Rachel McAdams, swoon. Channing Tatum, pure sex. “The Vow” … eh. It looks as though it’ll have the quality of “Dear John” mingled with a dash of the plot from “50 First Dates.” We’ll probably end up seeing it because we love Rachel, and let’s face it, having her play the lead in a Nicholas Sparks-written romance reminds us of “The Notebook”‘s Allie and Noah all over again! According to Medco Health Solutions Inc., more than 25 percent of women took at least one drug to treat psychiatric conditions in 2010, most prominently for depression and anxiety. The use of drugs to treat psychiatric and behavioral disorders has risen by 22 percent since 2001, and today roughly 20 percent of all Americans hold such prescriptions. In the 20-44 age bracket, the use of ADHD antipsychotic drugs and treatments has more than tripled, and the use of anti-anxiety medications such as Xanax and Valium has risen by 30 percent. The most common users of antipsychotic drugs today are women aged 45 or older.
The statistics go on and on, though they share a common trend: a dramatic increase in consumption in all age and sex brackets. Are we becoming crazier, are diagonses becoming more succinct, or are drugs simply becoming more accessible? Keep reading »
Bradley Cooper as People‘s “Sexiest Man Alive”? As staff at Salon.com put it, “He kind of looks like a dick.” Personally, we think Brad doesn’t hold a candle to Ryan Gosling, our eternal sexiest man alive (and BuzzFeed has 63 reasons why they agree). Salon has been consistently unmoved by People‘s “Sexiest Men” list that they’ve created a counter-list for the past six years in which sexy is defined in terms more intricate than broad shoulders and twinkling eyes. They take into consideration qualities like principles, cultural contributions, talent, and old-fashioned charm — not powerful publicists. This year, in light of Occupy Wall Street and nationwide Occupy protests, the site was even more passionate about shying away from Hollywood, and sought out men who are truly making the world a better place. We know it’s easy to get drawn into the gossip-ridden gleam of Hollywood, and The Frisky would plead guilty as charged — so we invite you to take a look at Salon’s round-up, a refreshing list that brings the underground, sexy movers and shakers to light. (Like 19-year-old Zach Walhs, above, who was raised by two women and stood before Iowa legislators speaking in support of gay marriage. Swoon!) [Salon.com] Keep reading »
The New York Times alerts us to the new hair trend for quirky (read: hipster) boys, which has many names: the “synth,” the “undercut” and the “Youth” — short for the Hitler Youth. Yes indeedy, the look of pure evil itself — hair shaved severely on both sides with a flop of gelled bangs across the top — is back in vogue. The cut and its variations are widespread in popularity across Europe, and its been worn by everyone from Joe Jonas to Win Butler of Arcade Fire and photographer Hedi Slimane. I have to say, I really like it! It looks modern and edgy, and I don’t believe guys wear it as a walking billboard for fascism. Keep reading »
“Immortals” hit theaters today, and in addition to excess male eye-candy and a lackluster plotline, we get to see Freida Pinto’s booty in a steamy scene with Henry Cavill … or at least what appears to be her booty. “It was a butt double. I’m relieved I don’t have to deal with that issue,” she told E! Online. [Just Jared]
Pinto is not alone, be it by choice of morals or vanity, famous stars have opted for body doubles in nude scenes for years. Find out which glorified forms aren’t as authentic as they appear to be.

Ah, stupid people doing stupid things. A man named Michael Alan Skopec was arrested after he called 911 five times to report a grave emergency — his iPhone was broken! To his credit, when police arrived to investigate a disorderly conduct charge, he was intoxicated. Skopec, a resident of Bristol, Illinois is no fumbling frat boy, either — the man is 48 years old! This drunk dialer was charged with obstructing and resisting a police officer. The great mystery still stands: on what phone did he make the emergency calls? [NY Daily News] Keep reading »
To add to the tornado of gossip that Kim Kardashian‘s divorce has ushered in, there are now claims that her soon-to-be-ex-husband Kris Humphries has “evidence” that Kim pads her famous butt! Dun, dun, duuuun! The “evidence” is reportedly a pic or a vid on his cell phone, says The National Enquirer. If only we could see her unclothed bottom and judge for ourselves, because it’s not as though Kim runs around in string bikinis or poses nude for Playboy. Keep reading »
A long-term study at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital in Scotland found tha women who had sex four or more times a week were rated as looking 10 years younger than their actual age. (More sex leads to a youthful glow? I can dig that!) But the research, cited in a new study by WomenTALK, also found distressing news: of the 1,031 surveyed, many are increasingly having sex out of obligation to their partner — not their own pleasure.
Let this be word to the wise for those looking for a hookup online: two women were arrested this after an 18-year-old man told police he’d been cut over 300 times during sex play. The dude met one of the women on the Internet through Craigslist and had traveled to Milwaukee from Arizona for a consensual, kinky tryst. But after meeting Rebecca Chandler and Raven Larrabee in person, it quickly got out of hand. Chandler said they were having sexual relations that involved the cutting, though she agreed that it did indeed get out of hand. Uh, yeah, you could say that. Keep reading »
