Celeb To Watch: Andrew Garfield

garfield 093010 g1 jpg
Not only is Andrew Garfield cute (like the boy next door), tall (six feet) and talented (awarded Outstanding Newcomer and Most Promising Newcomer) but the dude is about to blow up. Sure, Variety put him on their list of “10 Actors to Watch” back in 2007, but they were off by a couple years. Plus, being on The Frisky’s “Celebs to Watch” is way more prestigious.

Click through our slideshow to find out which big movies you can catch the 27-year-old in and find out a few fun facts about him so when everyone starts making him the background on their desktop you can say, “Oh yeah, I knew about him way back before it was cool.”

Girl On Girl: Is Being Out In The Workplace A Bad Idea?

Since I work out in a boxing gym and am one of the only girls there, I always try to keep my head down, work hard and not engage too much with the guys, some of whom have serious boundary problems. So, a few weeks ago, when one of the trainers said, “So, what’s your boyfriend’s name?” I quickly responded, “I don’t have a boyfriend.” Unfortunately, this guy was persistent and asked, “Why not?”

After a few moments, filled with “well … um” and “uhh…,” I decided to tell him, even though it meant we were going to have to talk for a bit longer than I wanted to. “I’m gay,” I said. “I have a girlfriend.” Keep reading »

Ryan Reynolds And Other Celebs Who’ve Been Buried Alive In Movies

There are good movies, there are bad movies, and then there are movies where people get buried alive. Actually, there are a lot more types of movies but, hey, it sort of has a ring to it, right? Anyway, Ryan Reynolds recently opened up about his extremely closed-in role in “Buried,” a flick about an American in Iraq who wakes up to find himself six feet under. The actor had to spend every day of a 17-day shoot in the box. “I definitely did not look good,” Reynolds said, referring to his appearance after emerging from the darkness. [People]

The “Buried” star isn’t the first actor to be buried alive in a movie. More after the jump. Keep reading »

Girl On Girl: Can Someone Tell GLAAD 50 Cent Isn’t Worth It?

Someone needs to tell the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) that 50 Cent isn’t worth the time it takes to call out his bigotry. And he certainly doesn’t deserve the effort required to launch a full-fledged campaign against him.

In case you don’t know what I’m talking about, 50 Cent took to Twitter last week and, in an angry tirade against Perez Hilton, dissed the entire LGBT crowd. He wrote: “Perez Hilton called me douchebag so I had my homie shoot up a gay wedding. wasnt his but still made me feel better. ” After this Tweet about women, he was already heading to the top of my list of “People I’d Like To Meet … And Knock Out,” and after this one, he took the #1 slot. Tips For Dealing With Your First Semester Of College

Going away to college is scary — don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. When I left my little, rural town in upstate New York and came to the big city for college at NYU, I was terrified. All of the sudden I had to live on my own with people I barely knew, cook for myself, and (gasp!) learn how to do laundry. An A+ student my whole life, I had to learn to live with B’s and professors who graded like they had a personal vendetta against me. The whole experience of being a first semester freshman at college sucked. It didn’t help that, before classes began, someone in my grade jumped out of the window of a neighboring dorm and killed himself. Within a week, I decided I wanted to change schools. But my parents convinced me to stick it out a bit longer and, eventually, I began to like my new life and surroundings.

Anyone who tells you the transition to college is easy is a straight-up liar. And while I’m not saying I can ease all the pain and stress of adjusting, I can share a few things I learned from my experience that may help you out. Keep reading »

The Craziest College Classes Ever

One of the best things about college — besides getting out of your parents’ house, eating Easy Mac at midnight and dorm parties — is the classes. Sure, classes are the reason you have to roll out of bed before noon after staying up half the night finishing an essay, but they can be fun if you give ‘em a chance. Aside from the regular stuff like boring-history-with-an-ancient-professor and math-you’ll-never-use-again, colleges are now offering a few classes so crazy you might be excited to attend. 8 Celebrity Bike Enthusiasts

jared leto bike new jpg
At this week’s Nylon Magazine party, Jared Leto didn’t arrive by limo, swanky SUV, or even taxi cab. Nope, instead he rode up to the party on his stylin’ white bicycle and, according to reports, spent most of the time checking up on his wheels. I don’t know about you, but I’m impressed that he’s decided to go green rather than ride in a gas guzzler. [NY Post]

Check out a few more famous peeps who love their bikes.

Girl On Girl: What I’ve Learned About Dating Women

My girlfriend and I recently celebrated our one-year anniversary by, well, not doing anything. We acknowledged that we’ve been together for a while, discussed our first date a bit and moved on. But just because we didn’t bust out chocolate mousse and champagne and light-scented candles doesn’t mean I haven’t been thinking a lot about this past year and what I’ve learned from it. Since this is my first long-term lesbian relationship, I’ve noticed similarities and differences between gay and straight couples that people who have been dating women for a while might not realize exist. So, in honor of my one-year anniversary, I’ve decided to take a look back at the past year and share a few things I’ve learned — as well as what those bumps in the road taught me about myself, my girlfriend and lesbians in general. 5 Great Vacations For People On A Budget

stuicase 31210 jpg
My bank account and my lifestyle don’t always agree. My lifestyle wants to travel to fabulous places, buy nice clothes and sip expensive cocktails. My bank account wants to disappear like Lindsay Lohan’s sanity. And I know I’m not the only one who ain’t got no money in the bank. Rent is sky-high, the economy sucks (no matter what anyone says) and necessities like caramel lattes, Betsey Johnson heels, and trips to the hair salon are darn costly. But, luckily, I know how to save, especially when it comes to going on vacay. After the jump, check out some budget getaways that don’t involve camping in mosquito-infested swamps and living on fast food.

Girl On Girl: Lesbians, Stop With The Exclusivity Already!

I haven’t been out that long. And I haven’t been with, or even dated, that many women. These are facts I’m not ashamed to admit, and I don’t think they diminish the intensity of experiences and relationships I have had with women. Sure, it would be hard for me to do a long treatise on my struggles with being gay or write a handbook on dating and sleeping with women. I recognize the limitations of my lesbianism and I’m not trying to overstep or ignore them. But that hasn’t stopped the haters. Keep reading »
