And Now We Have Breast Milk Jewelry

Strands from baby’s first haircut. The first tooth. Tiny footprints sunk into clay. Some parents even tuck away the dried stump of the umbilical cord or the stick pregnancy test as a touching memento marking the milestones of their kids. The latest? Breast milk jewelry, on sale at the handmade marketplace Etsy. Few issues polarize mothers more than breast-feeding, and all things related to breast-feeding, so wearing processed breast milk around the neck or in a bracelet has ignited some passions. Read more on Newser…

Annette Funicello Dead At 70

Annette Funicello, who shot to fame at age 12 as a Disney Mouseketeer, has died from complications of multiple sclerosis at age 70, her family confirms to Extra. Funicello parlayed her Disney fame into a successful singing and acting career perhaps most noted for her “Beach Party” movies with Frankie Avalon in the 1960s. “You knew she was very attractive, very pretty and voluptuous, but Annette never flaunted it,” Avalon, now 75, told People in 1998. “She underplayed everything. She never tried to be sexy. People said to themselves, ‘I could date that girl if I ever met her.’ She wasn’t untouchable.” Read more on Newser…

Facebook Unveils ‘Home’ For Phones

The “Facebook phone” is here and, as expected, it is not a phone built by Facebook. Instead, the company unveiled “Facebook Home,” a download that converts an Android phone into a Facebook-centric device, reports CNET. It will be available on a limited basis April 12 at the Google Play store. That’s the same day HTC is rolling out its HTC First, the first phone to ship with Facebook Home in place. Judge Won’t Grant ‘Pregnant Man’ Thomas Beatie A Divorce

Welcome to the world’s most confusing divorce case. A judge in Arizona today declined to grant a divorce to Thomas Beatie, who attained minor celebrity status as the “pregnant man” a few years back and gave birth to three children. Beatie, who was born a woman but identifies as a man, married wife Nancy in Hawaii in 2003. But was he a man or a woman at the time? Beatie had undergone a double-mastectomy by then and was starting hormone therapy, but he still had a woman’s reproductive organs, reports AP. The judge today decreed that there wasn’t enough evidence proving Beatie was a man at the time of the wedding. That makes it a same-sex marriage, which means that the state of Arizona doesn’t recognize it. And if the state doesn’t recognize the marriage, it can’t grant a divorce, either. Read more…
