“Downton Abbey” is delving right into 1920s race relations, according to the Sun, and for the first time, the show is casting a black character. Seth MacFarlane’s Most Offensive Oscar Jokes

Academy bosses must have known Seth MacFarlane would come to the Oscars armed with a few bad-taste jokes—and the “Family Guy” creator did not disappoint. Some of the rookie host’s more controversial moments, as per Entertainment Weekly and the Huffington Post:

  • “Django Unchained” ”is the story of a man fighting to get back his woman, who’s been subjected to unthinkable violence—or as Chris Brown and Rihanna call it, ‘a date movie,’” MacFarlane said. Boos were heard when he added, “A lot of controversies over the use of the n-word in the film. I’m told apparently the screenplay is loosely based on Mel Gibson’s voicemails.” Read more…

Sisters’ Oscar Feud Continues, 71 Years Later

Olivia de Havilland and her sister, Joan Fontaine, have been feuding away since they were kids—but things got really bad at the 1942 Academy Awards, and they’ve never improved. De Havilland is, of course, well known for her role as Melanie Hamilton Wilkes in “Gone With the Wind.” But Fontaine is an actress as well, and in 1942 they were both nominated for Best Actress. Fontaine won, and said she “felt Olivia would spring across the table and grab me by the hair.” De Havilland won her own Best Actress award four years later, and refused to take her sister’s hand when Fontaine tried to congratulate her. Read more…

Pistorius Case: Witness Heard Woman Scream, More Gunshots

Police labeled Oscar Pistorius a flight risk as his bail hearing resumed in South Africa today, reports the AP. Prosecutors, who accuse the athlete of premeditated murder, told the court that a witness heard “nonstop talking, like fighting” from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. on the night girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp was shot, The New York Times reports. The morning’s main witness was the first officer to arrive on the scene, reports the BBC, and he told the court that “we have [the] statement of a person who said after he heard gunshots, he went to his balcony and saw the light was on. Then he heard a female screaming two-three times, then more gunshots.” Pistorius told the court yesterday he thought he was shooting a burglarwhen he fired through a bathroom door. Read more…

More Bizarre Behavior From Amanda Bynes

Breaking news: Amanda Bynes is still acting very, very strange. The latest: She had to move out of her New York apartment and into a hotel under threat of eviction, because neighbors were complaining about her bizarre behavior. “Her door was left open all the time,” one tells the New York Post. “And we saw that she put red [lightbulbs] in every outlet.” She also once walked down to the lobby at 2am, “laughing hysterically for four minutes,” then returned to her apartment. “She was really nice at first,” the source adds. “She knocked on some doors and introduced herself and wanted to hang out, but then she started acting weird.” Read more…

Did Chris Brown Fake His Community Service?

We know Chris Brown completed somecommunity service after he was convicted of assaulting Rihanna, because we’ve all seen the photos of him in his reflective orange gear. But it turns out that during some of the times he was supposedly engaged in community service in his native Virginia, he was actually giving concerts or even en route to Cancun, prosecutors say. The DA filed to revoke Brown’s probation yesterday, offering a slew of evidence that he faked his community service records, TMZ reports. The trouble stems from the work Brown supposedly did at Tappahannock Children’s Center. First hint of something amiss: His mom used to be a director there. Read more…

New Workout Trend Uses … High Heels

It might seem a little more logical for women to slip off their heels to do some dancing, but the Wall Street Journal says a new fitness trend requires precisely the opposite. Called things like “heel hop” or “stiletto fitness,” the classes are offered in a handful of spots from LA to Vegas to Kansas City, but proponents expect them to be spreading quickly. The idea is to strengthen lower leg muscles—the ones needed to wear high heels without stumbling around. Read more…

7 Actors Hit By The “Oscar Curse”

Jessica Chastain is quite the “it” girl right now. Not only are her movies doing well at the box office, she recently won a Golden Globe and is nominated for an Oscar. But she should watch out: Award winners often go on to, shall we say, less than award-worthy projects. Celebuzz rounds up seven actors whose careers tanked, at least for a bit, after they won Oscars:

  • After Renee Zellweger won Best Supporting Actress for “Cold Mountain,” she made “one of the worst movies Hollywood made about women in the last two decades,”  ”Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.” “Cinderella Man,” “New in Town,” and “Case 39″ weren’t much better. Read more…

Tiger Woods Dating Lindsey Vonn?

Why anyone would enter into a relationship with Tiger Woods after this is a mystery to us, and yet: Sources tell Star skier Lindsey Vonn has done just that, according to the New York Daily News and the New York Post. They’ve apparently been together since November, with Tiger visiting the Olympian in Austria while she was racing, then taking her to Antigua. According to a Hollywood Life source, “They met through the ski community, because Tiger is an active skier,” and Vonn has been teaching his kids how to ski. Read more…
