I wouldn’t consider myself to be a Grade A snob, despite what some may think. I may carry an expensive bag or be sporting expensive shoes, but chances are that I’m wearing Forever 21 everywhere else. I prefer a diner sandwich to a fancy meal, have cut myself off from mani/pedis and learned to polish my own, and am getting a little less bitter about the subway. In these tough economic times, we’re all trying to cut back, but there are some things we’re just not willing to give up. Keep reading »

There’s no better way to dress up an outfit when the weather turns cold than with tights. For a more exciting and sexy look, go with textured tights. These stunners from fancy pants hosiery peeps, Wolford, combine the perfect blend of fishnet and crochet knit. They may cost more than your average pair of stockings, but Wolfords are worth it. The gloriously gorgeous Nate Archibald is back and he brought a good storyline with him! The Captain, aka Nate’s father, is back and he has secret plans. While Nate is initially surprised that his dad wants to make a life with him and his naïve mother, he eventually finds out the truth with Vanessa and the FBI’s help. Extortion and kidnapping? Excellent work, writers of GG! To think Nate’s own father would basically hold his wife and child for ransom, is so terribly sad and pathetic. I’m glad Nate put on his big boy pants and turned him in. He is now truly the man of the family. Tear! Keep reading »
Don’t you ever wonder what it would be like to be a singer or band’s muse? Some of the most recognizable songs ever are written about some of the most famous people ever — after the jump, the inside story behind eight great tunes, from “Sweet Caroline” to “Cry Me A River.” Some of them are not so nice… Keep reading »
Cheating is a tricky business. As it should be, considering it is morally reprehensible. However, I’m not here to judge anyone about their extra-marital affairs, I’m just here to give the facts. And the fact is AshleyMadison.com is supposedly the world’s number one “dating” service, with over 2.5 million members. I decided to do a little undercover work and signed on to the site to find out exactly what members are entitled to. This site began in 2001 — with the motto “Life is Short. Have an Affair.” — but has just not started to garner attention since it’s been featured on “The Tyra Show,” “20/20,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “Dr. Phil,” and “Larry King Live.” One woman told Tyra that within the last six months of being on AshleyMadison.com, she’d slept with about 150 people.
Snooze, the last few episodes of “Gossip Girl” have been boring me. Maybe I just hate Jenny’s mullet so much that it’s hard for me to want to watch this, but lately I just feel as if the show is selling itself short.
First of all, where is Nate? When in doubt or short of material, throw in eye candy. And “man bangs” makes for some good eye candy. Do not throw in, however, a creepy artist type. I know that they are trying to follow the books by throwing in Cyrus and Aaron Rose, but c’mon, Aaron sucks. He looks like a pedophile. Yes, he does. In addition, Aaron has that gross, sparse pubic hair goatee. If he’s not hot and he’s clearly still banging models, why is Serena still lusting after him? She may be annoying, but she can do way better than Aaron Rose. And nobody would go to Central Park in their nightie! Franly, no high schooler I know would even wear that to sleep.
Last night on “Grey’s Anatomy” we finally got to see how ABC execs decided to cut out Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith) and her lesbian love storyline. There was much backlash and gossip regarding the unfair decision to give Erica the boot because people and network execurives seemed “uncomfortable” with her same sex relationship. The news leaked that she was getting the ax right before the episode aired. So how did they do it? More details after the jump. Keep reading »
There are many post breakup stages that a person can feel — anger, sadness, resentment, hatred, insecurity, just to name a few. However, at some point, one of your bolder friends will make that typical fast fix suggestion that “the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else.” Do I agree with this? Ehh. For some, a rebound only makes the split hurt more. I would suggest starting with a little flirting, maybe some kissing, and take it from there. But one thing I do believe in is “The Grace Period.” Keep reading »
Romance and sex no longer really automatically go hand-in-hand. We have known this for years now, yet some of us still get mixed up. Sex without romance can be liberating, fun, and carefree. Romance is something entirely different. It’s an enhancer for the heart, mind, and soul. Since these two words can mean entirely separate things, that now means there are two different kinds of dry spells: one for the body and one for the mind.
Growing up, I learned there are three touchy topics that can turn people from Dr. Jekyll into Mr. Hyde: Politics, Religion, and Money. These days, how can politics not be on the tips of everybody’s lips? How do you handle it when you and your own family are on opposite sides of the political fence?
I’ve got thirteen people in my immediate family: my parents, myself, four siblings and their spouses, and two outspoken nieces. Although only eleven of us are actually eligible to vote, my not-yet-voting-age nieces are damn well informed. As you can imagine, our family dinners tend to get heated, and we’ve got a recipe for disaster. So, here’s how I deal with my family politically. Keep reading »
