Three designers — Yu Kyung Ha, Won Min Jung, and Kwon Young Hee — won this year’s Red Dot design award for their ingenious new creation: a pizza box that can be broken up into individual pizza-sized plates. How has this never happened before? I’m a huge fan of anything that helps better engineer my ability to get pizza into my mouth. Designers, we salute you. [Gizmodo]
Plaid. Why not pepper your wardrobe with a couple of plaid pieces? Pair a plaid shirt with dark wash jeans, or a plaid dress with solid black tights. Tartan — don’t tart — it up!
This past week, the NAACP hosted its annual Image Awards luncheon and pre-awards show gala. Some of the African-American community’s biggest celebs turned out to fete the organization at both events, but not everyone was appropriately dressed. Check out this model backstage at the Fyodor Golan F/W 2012 fashion show in London. That’s right, New York fashion week is over, but London’s is just beginning. Golan’s show featured a model in head-t0-toe lizard-like green paint. That’s going to be a messy post-show shower.
If you’ve ever gone thrift shopping with me and my lady friends, you know that it’s nothing less than an all out major event. We make a day of it, and plan out which shops to visit based on who’s got good shoes, housewares and little-boy blazers (my personal favorite). We thrift for fun — and for the occasional mind-blowing find — but there’s plenty of people who make a living out of it, reselling their best finds on eBay, or in upscale consigner and vintage shops. And that’s what the new Oxygen Network show “Thrift Work” hopes to cover. I can already feel this show making me jealous. [NYMag.com]
